Recommended Tire for Intended Use

I have been looking at post on tires but wanted to see what might be recommended for how I currently plan on using my Z/28.

Car was purchased with Michelin PSC2's that are about gone. 305 in front and 325 in rear.

This a weekend car at best, probably 5k per year at most along with 2-4 HPDE a year. I am a track novice so initially probably won't be pushing the car near the limit.

Was looking at RE11's although those appear to be going out of production?

Thanks!

I like the Sport Cups, I have 315's all the way around. I like the Trofeos for the track, but they are not as streetable as the MPSC2's.

I use my car almost exactly the way you plan to use yours: weekly canyon drives ( at 7/10ths max--not pushing too hard) and about 4 HPDE's a year. I drive HPDE's as hard as I can, but I know I am nowhere nears its limits, yet.

I have RE11s on all four corners in 325 size. They fit perfect and look great. There not for the track though. The Trofeos are night and day as far as grip goes.

Mark - What type of tire life are you expecting with the psc2's based on your usage?

I might get 5K out of them. I already have 3K on them, and they are almost done. I would guess that 1/3 to 1/2 of those miles were in the canyons or on a track.

RE-11s are terrific for light track and street driving. RE-71 are even better. The steal of a deal are the new ZL1 1LE Goodyears

Pete, on the Gen5 5 spoke zl1 OEM wheels, think the g3’s would be a good choice for road course tire over the g2s or toyo r888rs?

I have a spare set of OEM wheels I can dedicate for local track racing here in Texas...

P.S. I’m not gonna be Mario Andretti or A.J. Forte on the track ;o)

Ok so RE71's are better for street/semi track use but the new G3's are even better?

My guys that are running the 3Rs absolutely love them. LOVE them. I have been a fan of the RE-11 305s since I pput the first set on a Camaro way back on 2000 on my early 5th Gen. The RE-71 is a bit better, but I think the current king is the 3R.

3Rs look to be only in 19s (tire rack says at least). For those of us with 20s, we’ll need to look at something else like the Supercar 3s (current 6th Gen ZL1). Need to see who has the 3Rs to make sure of sizes...

I'm falling back to the famous OrangeCrush1LE with CCW offset 18x11/18x12 with 315 squared slicks or 315/335. Is that setup dated now as we see comparable gains from running a 305 on a 19" wheel? Not sure if the custom 18" will clear ccb but should clear the ZL1 rotor.

Looks like the Goodyear 3r's are only rated at 98Y? Anyone see that is an issue?
