Because GM wants us to pay the difference. Most owners will probably try to use it for one of their two free oil changes

Yep, I tried to get them to do it on a free change. All of their paperwork showed for 2019 cars only, so I ended up with the regular 5w30.

Appreciate the 411 on being for 2019...won't mess with the dealer now.

New 0-40 cap ordered.

Is there any documentation stating that this is the oil for the 2019 Camaro ZL1 ? I’m only seeing corvette listed.

Anyone catch that the oil is not recommended for the ZL1 1LE. What's up with that? Other than the difference in the gearing of 6th gear, the powertrain is identical to the ZL1. It doesn't make sense that it would be recommended for the standard ZL1 and not the ZL1 1LE.

So now I am getting confused ... the asterisk next to LT4 indicates that it is not recommended for ZL1LE models. In the performance supplement it indicates that for track events use 15w50 and then I assumed you go back to the standard fill for a ZL1 for street use?

So should the ZL1LE use 15w50 all of the time or 0w40 off track and 15w50 on track?

I agree it's getting confusing. All the promotional material I've seen from GM regarding this oil claims it has the advantage that it can be used for street and track. No more need to change to a different viscosity oil for track use. The only exception is the LT5 in the ZR1. A heavier weight oil is still recommended for track use.

Guess I'm the only one not worried at all about this. Doesn't make sense to run 0-40 in So Cal to me and especially tracking. I'll stick with 5-30 and 15-50 for tracking.
