And this happened....https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/21/new...own/index.html

Interesting to see how Manley manages the company. Will he stick to the Marchionne influenced 5-yr Plans or will he re-script some of the portfolio decisions?

Should have put 'Toyota Camry' across the front, just to hit the trifecta.

Sell Jeep to one of the euro brands and shutter Dodge & Chrysler. Fiat can servive back under Ferrari as the Alfa brand still has appeal.

And what about Ram?

I forgot the nonsense of making that a “division”. That can go too. I doubt many would miss it. Of course I’d also ax Buick & GMC. Ford does well with just two divisions. GM would be fine with just Chevy & Cadillac. Buick’s saving grace is it’s so popular in China.

The accountants at Fiat would miss it, along with Jeep. Those two are the only things pulling in cash at FCA.

True. Just cut Chrysler & Dodge? FCA wants them both gone for over a decade, but no one wants to buy them.

Japanese and Chinese brands would salivate at the thought of getting Ram without having boat anchor Chrysler and Fiat brands attached.

Two of the fastest growing brands. Plus the Denali trim levels of each product line are a license to print money. Not on the level of sticking “Jeep” on the ass-end of just about anything, but they do pull in more profit per vehicle than top end Chevrolets of the same content level.

Huh? If you was in charge you'd axe Buick, GMC, and RAM?

OK then...

As Jim said, Ram could be sold and Jeep would find a taker. Dodge & Chrysler have been on the block for over a decade. No one wants them. That should tell you something.

The other comment goes with brand over diversification. Ford does fine with just Ford & Lincoln, while the top three Japanese brands; Toyota, Honda, & Nissan, all have a luxury arm: Lexus, Acura, & Infiniti respectfully. VW has Audi, although you’ve seen those two get farther apart and into differ directions in the last 10 years. If GM is pulling it off with 4 makes, then good for them. China has been driving Buick’s global numbers, but domestically they weren’t that great recently. Kudos if they’ve turned that around. A “base” & “luxury” brand market strategy makes sense for all these other companies, hence my comment. Feel free to actually respond with a valid discussion point.
