ZL1 at MCACN 2011

I just got back around 5 hours ago from the show. My work buddy who gave me a ride had to bug out so I definitely didn't get to stay as long as I'd like. There's just so much to see, awesome show!

Anyways, attached are some pics of the 2012 ZL1 among other cars (and other original 1969 ZL1's!). The car was the same one that debuted at the Chicago auto show in February, sans the black vinyl stripe.

I got a chance to meet Scott as my friend and I briefly talked to him. Introduced myself and mentioned that I was a member of Camaro5. Once I told him my username he instantly recognized me as "the baseball guy" He asked if I had an order submitted and I told him I did. He then offered to let me cross the barrier and get in the ZL1! I opened the door and sat inside and what a great feeling and experience it was! The suede package was perfect for me, the steering wheel had a great feel and grip. Definitely must have.

My buddy snapped a few pics of me in the car with his phone. He caught me when I was blinking on my permagrin shot I felt like a giant sitting in there, but from sitting in other Camaro's comfortably at other auto shows, I knew a little seat adjustment would help solve that problem.

Scott is a true class act and I can't think of a better representative and asset for both GM and the Camaro community. Thanks so much Scott!

Without further adieu, here are a some of the pics. If other members want to add theirs to this thread, feel free

This Z06 Carbon was unreal in person. I love Supersonic Blue, especially with all the black features! This color would look incredible on the ZL1 IMO.

That's all I have. Thanks to MY68RS and fbodfather for the heads up about the ZL1 being at this show. My day was cut short but it was well worth the trip!

Sweet pics. Those wheels are outstanding!

Edit: I'd settle for supersonic blue if all else fails!

Why your quite welcome. I am just glad you had enough notice to get there on time, and Scott is so busy I am sure he would feel the same. Thanks so much for the pics! I was about to have an anxiety attack! All good now!

Awesome Pics! I feel the same way about the suede steering wheel, It's a must have for me now. Went to my local dealer and got to feel the suede wheel on a 100th Corvette. I told my salesperson friend that Suede it is. Also the seat material feels great. Jealous that we have to wait to sit in a ZL1.

Not answering for Shurenuff but it doesn't seem like there's alot of polishing done to the wheel.

Thanks for taking the time to go and take pics! We appreciate it and wish we could have been there! Liking that Supersonic Blue too! Looks like the prototype grill... not the final one. I imagine a few other things still not ironed out yet.

Great pics! Looks like it was an awesome experience. How tall are you? I am 6'2" and had a little problem with my '01 WS6 very. Especially with the kids riding in back.

Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks! I'd more than settle on Supersonic, it would be my #1 choice. That car had me in some type of voodoo trance

It was a gesture that was truly appreciated. A very cool memory for me, especially since this is the car that was first shown to the world when the ZL1 was introduced. As someone who's been following the rumors and development of this car for years, that's very special to me.

Didn't get a chance to ask him about the shifter and a few other questions I had since I had to leave early, but my assumption is that it will be without. I'd trust the new photos on the Chevy ZL1 website for a more accurate portrayal of what the production car will look like. This car is the first prototype and still had some of the unchanged features, like the eggcrate grill and different shaped, silver steering wheel trim (in addition to the shift knob).

You're only 4 hours away and the show is still going on tomorrow. Road trip!

The thing is that I'm not even that big, 6'3" about 240. I did feel like a giant in there though. Definitely would have to adjust the seat for a better fit, but I'm not worried about that at all.

That steering wheel was so grippy and buttery

They looked good, same as they did back in February. I was honestly hoping for the black wheels since I have not seen them yet. Before I knew what car was going to be there, I bet my friend that the 2012 ZL1 on display would have the polished wheels since it was my opinion that they would appeal more to demographic attending the show. No problem. Looking at the pics, the color of this 1969 ZL1 was very similar to the Supersonic Blue color. Anybody know what that 1969 color is?
