I love parking around GT500s and SRT-8s when Im in my SS. We look like a pretty bad ass car club that no ricer group would dare mess with. American muscle all the way.

Those 1/4 mile times for that GT500 are horrible my buddys '07 GT500 went 12.50 @114 bone stock. Ive heard of 12.30's with the new and improved 2010 GT500. Shelbys are real nice but the GT500 is more Comparable to a C6 Vette but to each his own. It's sad when a pulled and tuned 2010 S/C GT500 (550-560) rwhp would get beat by a Cammed, full exhaust and tuned N/A 2010 Camaro SS (460-470) rwhp with similar weight. GM is back on top 1st it was the C6 Z06 then 2009 C6 Zr1 & CTS-V now 2010 SS Camaro, go GM !!!

Not sure I get what you are trying to say. A GT500 with pulley and tune is mid 11's at 120+mph capable. I have seen similar numbers from the modded Camaro SS that was cammed and running a 200 shot, but without juice it may be wishful thinking. Of course, any car and driver can be beat on any day.

[QUOTE=Ninjak;683469]I was thinking the same thing !

Also I keep wondering where are these 34k camaro's at...because even people in the L99 issues threads are saying they paid over 40k for their car......[QUOTE]

People can always buy the 1SS like I did starting at 30k if they prordered w/the LS3 of course. I got a 1SS/RS w/the polished 20's out the door taxes, tags, etc for $35,900. For the money its a no brainer in my opinion. If I had the money I would love to get a GT500, but honestly for that kind of money I would much rather get a used C6 Z06.

Or a Used gt500. @ Metro Ford right now there is a 08GT500 with upgraded 14inch Bembro's front and slotted backs, Steeda LCA,UCA, Steeda Exhaust, and chome package with Shelby razors 20's. It probably has a upgraded S/C as well, but lot was close so no dice on the engine look. Tag was for 38k. 7k miles.....easily talked down to low 30's

It still has a warranty as well. The thing about use cars though is...well if no warranty is available....well.....heh its a crap shoot. I would not get a used high performance car without one.

a "stock" GT500 in My opinion is Shelby has to buy a Ford Mustang and add Mods to make it a Shelby GT500. If it would be fair that let one of the Chevy Racing Companies do the same and call it a Stock Z28 and see that "stock" GT500 in its Mirrors. but just my opinion.

You do know that Ford builds this car right? Shelby has nothing to do with it other than Ford allows Shelby to put their name in front of gt500. So there is no Shelby buying a mustang and doing mods to it to make it a Shelby gt500 as you would say. Now if you wanted a Super Snake then that would be all Shelby.

Now the 2008-2009 Shelby gt500KR was a different story. That car was actually assembled at Shelby's Vegas plant. The 2010 GT500 is assembled at Ford's plant in Flat Rock, MI. Now the motor might actually be assembled in Vegas and then shipped to Flat Rock but i am not sure about that. So yes I would consider it a "stock" gt500. Believe me, you are going to know it when you run into a "not-stock" gt500. The KR came in a huge wooden crate, the 2010 gt500 comes on the back of a 18 wheeler. The KR was made by Shelby and the 2010 gt500 is made by Ford, at least that is how I understand it.

For those who don't know the GT500's engine is hand made. Tell me where else you can get a brand-new muscle car, stock, with a hand-built engine, among other things, making over 510hp at the wheels, stock, for $50k out the door tax, title and everything?

There's no doubt that the GT500 is a great car, but is Camaro5.com the place for a Mustang history lesson?

When you can figure that out than let me know how a Camaro SS with 110 more HP can barely beat a Mustang GT.

.5 seconds is a much larger gap than .1 seconds. I'm not sure why Mustang guys keep saying "barely beat", a half a second is more than barely.

However, the .1 gap is really a driver error in this case and you'd have to be retarded to believe the GT500 won't do better than that.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. GT500 comes with a Ford warranty from a Ford factory. Cool thing is that the dealer will install Ford Racing parts and keep you car under warranty as well.
