Please allow enough room in the rear to accomodate some big meats; at least some 315s and even 335s would be better. I never liked the look of the 4th Gens. from the rear until I put some 335s on the back of my car. Before that, it just seemed like the car had large hips when looking at it from the rear, and the big tires helped to give the rear end some more muscles, instead of some ba-dunk-a-dunk.

I think the answer is yes, but I want to check. I know the roof has been extended from the concept to production. Will a 6' 7" man fit without touching the headliner?

Thank you

Thank You very much for this thread!

Please GM, make Navy Blue Metallic a color option on the new Camaro, also allow V8 models to get the 'sports appearance' package this time and put 180 to 200mph on the speedometer! Please also give us customizable dash backlighting like the Mustang, we definitely need a dark blue backlighting with a red or orange needles! Make auto DRLs (daytime running lamps) like the 4th Gen Camaro & Firebird. Improve the steering wheel look and add steering wheel radio controls, please make all SS and Z/28s come with 20 inch wheels standard! Please place Camaro badging on the side and rear of the car. Add a Sunroof like the first white Camaro shown without camo!

OOooooh. I almost forgot about the different dash color changing idea. As for the prepro pix we saw w/ the light blue everything, I'd like to change that up...don't necessarily like all the blue. Being able to pick a color that best suits the car itself would be really cool.

I noticed most people want you to ADD things...which is fine for those guys, but I want to subtract them to keep the price and weight down. I know there are rumors of factory race cars etc..but I need something that can be licenced on the street....barely.

There are a lot of things that are already locked into the design, so I'll try to state things that could be optional at this stage of the game. I'll be autocrossing, roadracing, and drag racing. I want the biggest engine, the widest tires..or even large inner wheelwells to accomodate aftermarkets and slicks, the 6 speed, optional deep gearing WITH the ability to order a stripper interior.

I NEED you to make a 1LE stripper version with radio delete, ac delete, airbag delete, powerwindow/seat delete/ and anything else you think you can toss...this version needs to come with a huge oil cooler. A Strong limited slip is a must. Please have John Heinricy and the team come up with a fully developed t1 track only spring, bar, and damper package. It would also be nice for you guys to design a really well fitting 4 point roll bar with harness mounts that can be ordered from the dealer. Make it all so I finance it into the car. A track only splitter would be nice along with a pattern for a clear lexan rear spoiler that is windtunnel designed for 130mph speeds....doesn't have to clear curbs.

I know you have insurance concerns, but give us a few back doors to remove the speed limiters and override the torque control when necessary. If you have to downrate the horsepower for insurance reasons..fine...just close the throttle 50% and give the tuners an easy hack. A revised traction control algorithm for the 1le version that allows me to drift and powerslide. Think about the tools and information that Mazda has given to their minions that make it easier for them to get to the track.

I had my Black '67 RS camaro stolen from my workplace 6 years ago. Complete cowl inducted roadrace/dragrace afr headed smallblock car with a doug nash 5 speed and Cal-tracked 12 bolt. it's as close as I've ever come to being heartbroken and this is the replacement for it. When things calm down a bit in a couple years..give us a RS version with a blacked out grill...not mechanical hide-aways...but maybe something that shines through a dark polycarbonate lens.

Thanks and feel free to email me at bnutter@wiseco.com if I can be of more assistance. -Brian Nutter-Wiseco Piston

Okay, everyone here knows how big of a fan of the t-tops I am, but I haven't even mentioned them yet. I want them, but enough other people said something about it that I think the point was made that t-tops should be an option. Someone also just mentioned using the blue t-top photoshop pic as a "showcase" photo...that's fine, but the windshield header needs to be more proportionally sized....and...to help keep those "reverse mohawk" fans happy, make the t-tops out of the "body panel" with the mohawk lines "molded" into it....you get t-tops for nice weather and the reverse mohawk in the not so nice weather.....best of both worlds!

I also saw someone else mention making the Camaro a "family man's car". While I don't want dimensions or anything like that to change, I agree about this being a family man's car....basically, a bench seat in the rear with 3 seatbelts....I figure out how to get the necessary car seats/boosters for my kids, but put a bench and the 3 belts back there so we "family guys" can keep those future Camaro buyers/drivers safe.

I work for Chevrolet and I need this car to live up to the hype (even though that hype has died down during the 3 year waiting period we had from first seeing the car to it's actual production date). This is what I feel we NEED...
-HALO front headlights
-rear LED tail lights
-definitely keep the front scoop, but open her up, functional is better as a selling point.
-The gills in front of the rear tires need to be functional like the Z06 (able to cool the rear brakes)
-LARGE front and rear rotors. Preferably slotted rather than cross drilled (more durable).
-Body colored engine covers
-Body colored brakes, or just bright red (like the Z06)
-Bluetooth. I think Chevrolet is one of the last brands to finally use this technology. We will be getting it for the first time next year in the upcoming SUV the Traverse. I know GM spent a fortune on OnStar, but let's face it, people really don't use the hands free calling feature as much as you thought they would. Bluetooth is the way to go.
-Advanced audio system. Bose just created a user friendly cd/mp3/ipod interface that they are going to start putting in high end Ferrari's (I think it's the 599). This system is similar to the Ford's SYNC system, only better (as it should be). We can't cheap out on the technology that is becoming common place.
-I think that we should stay away from the 4-cylinders. I drove the HHR SS the other day (2.0L Turbo-charged 260hp). Granted it was great for an HHR, but that's an HHR. Right now, the 3.9L V-6 in the upper level Impalas paired with the AFM gets great gas mileage. I drove one to Daytona on a Dealer trade and was getting 29 miles per gallon going 90 mph. I think that a 4 cylinder would put a lot of Camaros on the road, but I feel that a Camaro with less than 300hp just wouldn't be right. People will buy the 6's and 8's.
-Stay away from the LS9 engine. You already hurt the integrity of the ZR1 by putting the same engine in a passenger car that's going to sell for about half the price (2009 CTS-V). The 6.2L LS3 would be good enough. Maybe even the LS7 (Z06) motor would be great for the SS.
-Price is important these days with the economy the way it is. However, I'd hate to say it (especially here) but most dealers are going to be charging $5,000-$10,000 over sticker for the Camaros , and they will get it. I'm not complaining because that means my family is going to eat good for a year and I can buy mine at GMS (employee pricing) anyways. To get to the point, the base model V6 shouldn't be any more than $23,000+++.
-Make power windows and power locks standard. As well as Remote Keyless entry and remote start. It's embarassing when trying to sell an Aveo5 SVM being that it doesn't even have A/C.
-I agree to have a slew of GM accessories for the vehicle. Aftermarket companies are going to make a fortune on these pieces if we don't make them first, and make them better. Gm Certified. oh yea!
-DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THE INTERIOR!!! I cannot stress this enough. We're finally on a role with building some high quality interiors (ie the 4LT Corvettes, the new Malibu). A cheap interior will do nothing but dissappoint people that have been holding off buying a new car because they want a Camaro.
-The transmissions should be 6-speed for the manual and the automatic. If you can put it in the Malibu, you can put it in the Camaro.
-We need to have a choice in suspension (by the way you spelled suspension wrong up top in the main part of the bulletin). The 65 year old guy buying the convertible V6 is going to want a smoother ride than the 30 year old buying the SS. I think that 2 would be enough.
-Make an HUD for the upper trim levels. People love this in the Corvettes and if this Camaro is going to be sharing engines with the Corvette, why not share some features?
-Push Button ignition with smartkey technology. The damn Altima has that in their base models, it can't be that expensive.
-Please make sure the seats are sporty. Some of our other brands (cadillac and buick) have some great seat designs. I think that they need to be different from anything anyone has seen before. Big side bolsters, sporty colors, 2 tone options, perforated leather inserts, the whole 9 yards.
-stay away from stupid features this car doesn't need. We don't need the front passenger seat to fold flat, so make sure it looks like the driver seat (unlike the HHR SS).
-Don't be afraid to have a loud exhaust in upper level V8's. People are going to go aftermarket if Chevy doesn't put it in there.

As far as marketing goes, we need to have a Loyalty program. For example, since we won't see any rebates on the car for probably the first 2 years of it's existence, put $1,000.00 rebates out there for people who already own Camaros. Or maybe do it like the Malibu ($1,000.00 rebate if you have a 1999 or newer non-GM vehicle).
On Chevrolet.com, you have a great little animated intro. It would be great to have some quality TV time. The President's Day sale ads were terrible. The Malibu had a few good commercials (like when the Camry was hiding in the corner), but it also had some terrible ones. Whoever writes the ideas behind our commercials should be fired immediately.
Other than all of that, I'm happy to see that the vehicle looks a lot like the concept as far as the body goes. I pray to the car God that the interior is something we haven't seen yet because I thought that the concept was cool as hell, but I heard the production model would be nothing like it. The concepts interior was different. If the interior of the Camaro looks like the interior of the Impala, we're in trouble. We really need to step up there. If it's a difference of $1,000 in the MSRP, I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in saying that I would pay for it. Please make sure it's something special. My 2009 Gross income partially depends on it.

I’ll try to just do a list focusing on what might be doable at this stage of development (some of these will have been mentioned already):

1. Make it a total package. It must handle as good as it looks an not just 0-60 or ¼ mile queen. Some will drag, some only care about one dimension but if you want this to have mass appeal it needs to be a tight performance package that will out handle an STI while running down a Mustang.
2. Several stripe packages exclusive of trim levels. You should be able to get a Z28, SS or whatever with no stripes if you want to.
3. Cost is always an issue so clump packages and trims in a way that makes sense (please don’t do your options like the new CTS, I’m 30 something and in IT and had a real hard time figuring out what went with what) while keeping big ticket options like navigation as separate options as well as leaving some items from packages as stand alone options. This helps your dealers sell cars as there are fewer options that a customer can choose from and reduces your cost as well. Face it the enthusiast is going to order a car the way they want while the average Joe wants a simple to understand system of options. (See the BMW 1 series for example; you can get the cold weather package which includes heated seats among other things or just the heated seats as an individual option).
4. Provide an upgraded interior option so you can make your price points but still allow those who want a nice interior the option of having one.
5. Allow for custom colors or options available under a special order program similar to VW, AUDI, BMW and others. We want more than beige, gray and black.
6. Offer cloth, Alcantara and leather options or combinations of both (Alcantara bottoms but leather bolsters for example).
7. Don’t assume everyone wants 20” chrome wheels, some will have performance as their top goal so provide 17 or 18” light weight options regardless of trim (reserved for the V-8 would be fine).
8. Make sure what a driver touches inside the cabin is well laid out from an ergonomic standpoint as well as made from quality materials. We don’t expect Audi but we do expect Honda/Mazda/VW (that is if you want people who buy Honda/Mazda/VW cars to buy the Camaro).
9. The Halo lights are nice; if they are too pricey make them available as a Chevy accessory.
10. A dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters would be a nice option.
11. Ipod/AV connection
12. Keyless ignition, start button would be nice but not required.
