No oil pressure again

Well last night hopped in the car and pulling out into the street, ding ding ding No Oil Pressure. WTF, they just put in a new pump like 4 months ago. So turn off the car, and then try to start it again. Still no oil pressure. Turn it off and let it sit blocking the road. I had to at least get it out of the road so I start it up again and now oil pressure. So I get it out of the road and back it into the garage in case they have to flatbed it in the morning.

So this morning start it and it has oil pressure. Take it to dealer and after sitting there all day they tell me car is fine. They changed the oil and found no metal in the oil. They also cut open the GM oil filter and found no metal. The best thing they did notice was the check valve in the filter was off center and they think it may of gotten stuck.

I am really getting scared driving this car.

I know it's been beaten to death and I'm afraid to even ask because I don't want your thread to get jacked, but is the oil pump specifically a LS3 problem or L99 as well?

Sounds like an oil pressure sending unit. Its a cheap part, I would replace it and see how it is. Next thing I would do is buy a manual Oil pressure gauge, then plug it in to see for yourself, next time it acts up. That is, if the new sending unit does not fix the problem.

I know the L99 uses a different higher volume pump. I have heard it can affect the L99 but have never read of anyone reporting it here. The LS3 there have been lots of instances.

This. If it's not the filter, I'd bet it's some electrical problem. The pump is probably fine... I don't think they can fix themselves.

great. Yours went out right when mine did last time. No more warranty for a new engine for me.

It's all starting to make sense. With so many oil pump failures, warranties would send GM back to insolvency! DENIED!
