Hurst Shifter effects gas mileage

A friend and I, OK my friend installed my new Hurst Shifter, everything on the install went well. Now when I drive the car, the gas mileage is much poorer than before with the stock shifter. I have yet to come to a positive reason why this is. Before the shifter install, I would shift at 2000 RPM, skip 3 and 5 and go to Th. Now, the RPMs seem to be around 3000 and seems to be creeping higher each day. I am hoping someone on this form can solve this dilemma for me.
Thank you,
Randy

Adjust your shift points to ~6000 rpm and get up to speed as quickly as possible, see, that way you coast more and your fuel mileage goes up.

Sounds like you are enjoying your new shifter!! How much shorter throw does the hurst have?
Do u miss the cushioning play that the stock shifter had compared to the hurst?

don't think your problem is in the shifter.

The shifter would not change the RPM. The shifter is just a link between your hand and the transmission. The problem lies somewhere beyond that link.

I have the Hurst Shifter and I had no change in MPG. Only thing that effect me is when I decide to shift.

Short throw shifters usually cost you 3-4 mpg... but they add a decent amount of power by decreasing drivetrain loss

It's called getting used to your car and wanting to go faster everyday. Mine only get's around 16.5mpg because I flog it every time.

Hog wash. My MPG sucked before the Hurst and it still sucks. Something about putting the pedal to the medal (carpet)!!!
