but yeh a Tune and a CAI will severely wake up the car. My car is perfect fit and finish wise. and no idea what you mean about the carpets. I have premium mats and no issues with the carpet.

So your carpet up front fits and is not stretched so tight you have an inch of air space under the carpet?

the LS3 is a flat brute right off the showroom floor. however.. the L99 and the auto become much more a beast with a few well placed mods and a tune.

From reading this thread, I believe the OP was refering to the L99 engine as not being an engine that loves to rev easily.
I believe we can all agree to that fact (in stock). |

Maybe its the driver that isnt familiar with all the functionalities. What truck do you own i would love to test drive it my ss bone stock i personally hit a 12.8 so that's no slug no matter what anybody says. Therehas even been ppl on here hit as low as 12.7 that i am aware of so you might need to get alil familiar with your car and take it to the tracks

well, to answere the original questions. I have a v6, but I am very happy with throttle.
My son had a 1SS, no problem with power. sounds like yours isnt broken yet. His really woke up after the first oil change. fit and finish on my car is first rate, The carpet issue should be fixed under warranty, have never seen one with that issue. now get out there and DRIVE that car. gramps

I can not relate to the OP's opinions.. I feel just the opposite of everything he has stated.
I feel the build quality is superb and performance is outstanding... I see no defects in workmanship anywhere, and i'm as anal as they come.. Performance is neck snapping along with throttle response, granted I do have a tune and suporting mods, but even stock I felt the perfomance was pleasurable. I drove the car almost 300 miles home when I picked it up at the dealer, it was bone stock , it's a L99 and I used the paddles the whole way home and I had a smile the whole way... As far as expectations being high cause of the beamer well I had a shelby with over 600 hp and I still was in love with my bone stock auto SS on the way home, but did wear off in time, thus the mods and the future ones coming |

"Am I being unreasonable in thinking my Camaro has very poor build quality?"
Yes. |

I think it's great that your wife has a passion for Camaro's, yet it's understandable when you have a certain level of expectation for a car and they are not met. It seems that she wants the car, but is not the tech savvy type to figure out issues that are associated with these types of cars, thus leaving the responsibility to you as "the man". Like you don't have enough responsibilities.
It's just a matter of getting to work out the "kinks" in regards to responsiveness that can be hassle until it gets you back to permagrin status. Hopefully a resolution will surface that will make all parties involved satisfied. Like they say, it's not the destination, but the journey getting there is sometimes the reward. Good luck with the car.

The paint quality on this car absolutely sucks and it is hands down my biggest gripe with the new camaros. If I look at the car the wrong way it has a scratch on it, I've literally opened my trunk and over-spray of paint has literally fell out.
As for the sluggish L99, run the tank down low fill it with 93 or even a gallon of race fuel, fuse pull and give it another try. Let it sit overnight too. Last edited by ajax.; 02-17-2013 at 09:14 PM. |
