Streaks in Color Changing Window Tint
What's Up Camaro 5 family. Last Saturday, so 6 days ago.. I had a window Tinter install tint for me in Preparation for an upcoming car show. I pulled out the standard ceramic dark tint, and had him install Luminous Tints "Sunset" Tint. It is color changing. Goes from Orange, to yellow, to green, to greenish blue. On the inside, its bright Purplish Pink. Hahaha.
Takes some getting used to, but it's a hell of an attention getter. My question for you guys though, I realize that Tint takes time to dry. But it has been 6 days now. The tint is super streaky. You can almost see where every single pass was he made with the squeegee. Like variances in pressure in the passes left a noticeable trail behind the squeegee. I provided the Tint, as it's not a normally carried style, and I got it directly from the manufacturer. He did tell me it was "Hard to work with".. but he was semi agitated at having to take off my 10 year old tint that was already on the car and I just chocked it up to agitation. Do you guys think the steaks will go away? Should I try gently running a heat gun over it? I have a car show next Saturday I'm getting ready for, so time is limited. Any advice or opinions are appreciated.

I have never used or had that tint. In my experience with "normal" window tint it shows marks and such for a week or more til it is all completely dry. Those streaks look pretty obvious for it being 6 days from tinting tho.

Yeah Dirty, been doing lots of research on the subject. Everyone says pretty much the same things. Water spots, bubbles, some "Streaking" is expected. This to me, doesnt look like "Water streaking", or dirty window streaking, it looks more like.. Too much pressure while applying. I am not an installer.. so that is an inexperienced estimation. Just what it looks like to me.

Luminous tints look pretty weird.

It don’t come easy.

Based on those pics, Im guessing the OP is looking at the final finish of the install. Could be from over pressure but, Ill bet it’s a finesse thing from the get-go.

It looks like the tint failed. Whether it’s due to the installer or the material, I’m not sure, but at least to me, it doesn’t look correct. I know it’s hard to work with (a couple local guys have those on their cars) but tiger stripes are not the intended end result of luminous tint.

When I went to get my windshield done with a mirror red tint for a show they told me this would most likely be the outcome. My tinter told me the mirror tints are very hard to work with and to make look right. He convinced me to just tint the windshield black like the rest of the windows bc he knew I wouldnt be happy with the results. Im very happy with the outcome plus im pretty sure a red windshield would have gotten me hammered by the fuzz already.

A few more days have gone by since your post. Any noticeable improvement?
