Just how much faster is the LS3 than the L99?

Not wanting to start a debate on driving skills, etc. I was just playing with the numbers on the Top 30 Fast Lists dated 8/23/10. Here is a little summary:
STOCK
9 L99s on the list and 21 LS3s
Avg ET L99 13.16
LS3 13.07
LS3 .135 quicker
Avg MPH L99 106.13
LS3 109.44
LS3 3.31 faster

BOLT ON
18 L99s and 12 LS3s
Avg ET L99 12.62
LS3 12.57
LS3 .05 quicker
Avg MPH L99 110.98
LS3 112.30
LS3 1.32 faster

L99s seem to respond pretty well to bolt ons and narrow the gap to almost nothing. At least it was interesting to look at don’t you think?

My L99 is ready to take on the LS3s. With some minor mods it's right up there in the numbers. 12.6 @ 113.43

When you're looking at the Bolt On's category, you would need to only compare cars with the same exact mod list (example - LS3s and L99S with just an intake, headers, tune). Otherwise it wouldn't be valid.

I agree. in a race measured in one thousandths, that's a pretty big deal.

Agreed. I was just curious with the common bolt ons that were being done, what kind of results guys were getting. It's a small sample and probably not statistically significant, but it is still interesting.

The fastest ls3 went 10.20's @ 139(me), cam and nitrous. The 6 speed cars will always be faster.

just a correction.. there was a subtraction error, the difference is really only .09. i know that .09 is still a big deal when youre racing just wanted to point this out

Biggest thing for the L99 is the trans tune, get rid of TM and crisp up the shifts really helps even the gap.

Averages are fine, but the big difference is between the fastest LS3 and L99 stock.
12.58 compared to a 12.86. That's a world of difference.
