how long does it take?

So if we order a 2012, what are the production & delivery stages & how long does each one take?

Interesting you say August delivery. I spoke with a dealer yesterday & he told me:

It will be November/December before any of the 2012's start showing up anywhere.

Sales reps - any opinions? How long will it take to receive a 2012 once ordered?

Typically, once the order moves into GM's system,
it will take about 6 weeks +/- to get to you.

If this fall is anything like last year I'll get to drive it home and put it away for the winter. Well, maybe get to drive it a month or so. I sure hope it is worth the wait. Checked with my dealer today and he hasn't received his allocation slip yet. Comes next Friday. Then my order goes in and the long wait begins. My black 1SS vert better be here by my 8/21 birthday but I sure it will be longer.

Step #1 - make certain your dealer has an allocation....the rest will take care of itself....and yes, allow for about 8 weeks or so, after the July 18 beginning production date for the '12's.

I would agree with Becky. Generally, from the time the order is accepted at the factory to the point it reaches the dealer or the customer, it takes about 6-8 weeks. If everything goes correctly and the vehicle gets accepted built and shipped within 6 weeks you would be getting it sometime between late August and early October. I hope that helps answer your questions.
