Not sure I agree with the premise of your question (see post #34). Also, I don't know what you mean by "hangs with", but according to post #22 above there's only a half second difference between the L99 and the 6th gen V6 A8 in the quarter mile (and less than half a second difference 0-60). In my opinion a half second or less qualifies as "fairly close" which is the phrase I actually used in my post. I'm curious how many tenths of a second difference qualifies as either "hangs with" or "fairly close" in your opinion.

The guys on Camaro5's fast lists are Average Joe's. They're members here that took their car to the track and posted their slips. If you think that 95% of those guys are the next coming of John Force, you're sadly mistaken. Even if they are pros, the slips don't lie. The L99 is ~.2 slower across the board.

Stock vs stock and using the same driver, the L99 is slower than the LS3 at the strip by a few tenths. Less power, more weight and more driveline loss thanks to the torque converter. It's quite simple.

You think guys running 12.5 @110 and 12.7 @109 in bonestock Camaros are average. Pro Stock John is average Joe? Your average Joe...what does your car run....im average joe. Pro Stock John does way better with similiar modes then I do. Dont play the less power game for the l99. The car does even better on your fast list with boltons. Its not what your car does its what you can get it to do. Besides not everybody plays stock.

I obviously can't make you accept the fact that there is undeniable evidence from magazines, websites, fast lists, etc., that...stock vs stock, the LS3 beats the L99 in the 1/4. Enjoy your car. :

Nope you wont....because realworld racing isn't done on the internet....mag times ...or the coulda shoulda woulda racing league. You don't have to go further then Camaro 5 to discuss it.

I've had both. The V6 is good for a little then, cubic inches take over. No way would I buy a V6 over a V8.

I've never driven a V8 muscle car, but my dad had a 1979 Camaro Z/28 and a 1980 Firebird. Camaro had a 350, Firebird a 305.

He laughed when he saw the 3.6 V6 has 330+ hp. He said his 1980 Firebird with a 305 had only 175 horsepower! Haha! He drives my Camaro often, and he has said that it is quick, but not faster than the V8. He complains that it is TOO QUIET.

He says the 305 and the V6 might be a closer match. Not a chance for the V6 vs the 350 or newer V8 engines.

I can definitely say the 6th gen V6 auto is definitely NOT faster than a 14 LS3/M6 in the real world. Anything past that and I'm violating the rules....
