2011 vortech camaro ss vs 2001vortech mustang gt
A buddy of mine has been wanting to race my camaro, he has a 2001 vortech supercharged mustang gt 4.6, he says I cant beat him but that it should be close. I said well lets line them up then, so in the next month or so we are going to the strip to see the results, we are recording the race, I will post the video as soon as the race takes place.I was just curious of who other people thinks might win, this is just a friendly race like I said we are buddys just curious
camaro mods, vortech supercharged, sw 2" longtube headers, no cats, 3" electric cut outs 411 rear, custom grind cam, dual valve spings hardend push rods, snow performance meth injection, Keene bell bap, 67psi injectors, 160 degree thermostat, zr1 map, zr1plugs, bigger air filter, 8psi boost (for this race can go 11.5psi if needed), nitto dr's, hp tuner software, I have heads and roller rockers, and nitrous but I dont know if I will have them on in time or not, mustangs mods, vortech supercharged, longtube headers, high flow cats, flowmaster, 373 rear, different intake, (cant remember what kind), 10psi boost, 160 degree thermostat, intercooler he claims it is a 10 second car guess we will see, I think I've got this what do you think? |

I don't see how he's going to win this. He's still making less then 450hp at the wheels @10psi with that unit...and most likely closer to 400whp...I have a feeling he's going to get his ****** punched in.

If he is still using the stock short block I dont see him winning that one either. As long as your car can hook and you are a good driver you should put a hurting on him. Unless of course he is lying about his mods and running a forged motor with 20+psi. Maybe you should use the 11lb pulley and race gas just in case. If he knows your mods and still thinks he can beat you either he is dumb or is hiding something.

i seen his dyno video he put down 416rwhp and he said he's running 10.50 @138mph at our local 1/4mile track on STREET tires not dr's, I'll go ahead and say im not running 10.50s, maybe on spary i might be close but dont know yet but that is why i cant wait to line them up i cant wait to see this 400+whp 10sec mustang run on street tires run.

Yeah, there no way he's trapping 138 on only 416 rwhp. 118 mph, maybe. He'd be lucky to break into the 11s because the car probably isn't set up properly, you should have this easily.

Take it from an owner of a 2001 and 2003gt, I would say that is spot on. I would say you by at least 5-6 cars.

I talked to him today he is still claiming mid 10s at 135to138mph, the bottom end is 100% stock. He is running 10psi boost, I cant wait till this race, he is having a clutch put in the car now so it should be ready soon, he says the weight difference is making up for the rwhp differences Im starting to wonder if the car or driver has ever been to the track I think he has been youtuben alittle to much.

There is no way he runs 130 and 10's. That car would have to be gutted to the max with a lot of head work or underlying work that he is not telling you about to hit those MPH with 10PSI.
I ran 8.5 psi on a otherwise stock low compression DOHC motor in a 03 GT. dynoed 450/420. It would run 11.38 @128 but it did weigh 3120 without me in it and about 3280 with me in it. If he has stock motor at best on 10# he is making 400 maybe 420 but that would be in perfect conditions. Probably more like 380 . |

That's incorrect. The SOHC 4.6 was actually used in many more cars than the DOHCs were. The Mustang GT, the Exploder, the F150, the Crown Vic, etc. all had the SOHC version. AFAIK, the only cars of that era that had the DOHC 4.6s were the Mark VIII when it was being produced, various iterations of the Cobra, the Marauder and the Mach 1(which was just a '99-'01 4V Cobra motor itself).
Actually, the Mustang GT didn't get a DOHC motor until the Coyotes came on the scene in 2010, the 3V 4.6 was a SOHC as well. Quote:
