Brakes - what's the better choice?

Hey there,

what do you think will be the better upgrade??? Just driving normal, sometimes high-speed but allways with an eye on the cars to the right ;-) an some 1/4-mile runs ...

1. CTS-V upgrade with ZL1 rotors on the front, with stock rotors on the back - Hawk ceramic pads

2. Rotors and pads from Racing Brake in stock size

Thanks in advance for your opinions ... Björn

Ceramic pads dust less but that's at the expense of stopping power. If you have access to Hawk pads, HPS street pads are a decent choice. They have better stopping power and from the reports, they dust considerably less than OEM. If you want something better, you'll have to spend a little more. The carbotech 1521 pads are suppose to be pretty good too, while not breaking the bank.

If these are 1 hit wonders (IE street or autobahn driving) where you do not need consistent repeatability lap after lap the stock Brembos are more than adequate.

If you want a direct bolt on factory brake system the CTS-V/ZL1 6 piston is hard to beat.

I just did the V upgrade because I track my car as much as possible.....However I ran all last year on stock pads and 4 pistons Brembos with no issues.

I would look for something other than Ceramics for performance. I posted this same question and I am going with the CTS-V kit.
