In the first two gears the Camaro pulled so that my nose was at the rear of the front fender. Once we hit 3rd my car gained back so that we were nose to nose. Having driven both cars in daily driving, auto-x, drag, and hwy fun I can say that down low the Camaro feels stronger. At cruising speeds and especially at triple digits the Z feels stronger. We didn't do a standing start because both of us are at the point where tires need to be replaced to traction is a big issue. Rolling starts take that out of the equation. Obviously the Z kills the Camaro in auto-x. usually the Z pulls 2sec faster on most auto-x courses.
Could be the driver? Just pointing that out.

I owned a modded 370Z 7AT. No power mods just suspension and aero pieces. I've test driven an SS 6AT V8 and the Camaro feels slower and didn't handle as well even compared to the 370 when stock. Don't like the paddles on the Camaro either. Ofcourse my ZL1 has all bases covered. As for the GT-R it is an awesome car. All wheel drive and great HP. Price not soo nice.

Hard to believe but the 370zs I test drove weren't that great on power but then again some SS suck on performance. Weird how they can be Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde. My SS as I always said feels very much night and day from the past SS M6s I drove. No way a stock power Z feels like my car.

LOL, doubt it. First of all it was a rolling race, so the only technical parts were shifting. Second off all my girlfriend is no stranger to performance cars or racing. Before her Camaro she had a C6 Vette. Before that a 2001 Trans Am V8. Before that a grand prix GTP. Etc... And when I say "we" go racing I don't mean she comes to watch me race; I mean she races her car right there with me. I'd match her driving skill to most other drivers out there. So no, doubt it was the driver.

My little 05' 350Z has a big intake filter and a cat-back... just good noise improvements... maybe 10 HP.
The details are in the full suspension swap...
- all rear arms swapped for adjustable
- 2" lower on linear rate springs
- front adjustable uppers
- all bushings swapped to spherical metal or hardened urethane
- stage 3 chassis bracing
- full bound/rebound adjustable struts
- Road Atlanta alignment / tuned and corner balanced for my weight.

The beauty is not in the ~297hp V6 acceleration, but the ability to out maneuver any more powerful car and utilize the near full potential of the 3600lb chassis... next best thing to a track specific car.

Considering picking up a used model and stripping it down for weekend tracking... 3000lbs or less.

The Z product shines more and more with a few suspension tweaks.

Not sure if that really would make a BIG difference.
Stock 370z - 9.9hp per pound, using 3300lbs divided by 332hp.

Stock Camaro- 9.3hp per pound, using 4000lbs divided by 426hp.

So for bench racing purposes here... Maro wins,

Yep... a 400hp Z would be 8.25hp per pound using 3300 lbs/400hp.

No replacement for displacement... The V8 Tq is nice. The Z needs to rev.

I find that hard to believe. Ive raced a Nismo 370z with full exhaust, Tune, and CAI not to long ago and I don't think it wus close on a roll. but on the twisties that I will agree that It would be a drivers race with the Camaro on stock suspension.

Don't know what to tell you then man. Im giving you two, real world, from a roll runs. With two different cars, both over 400 crank hp. It was not easy to put distance on him. He only had CAI, and lowered.

I noticed you said you raced that 370 recently. Was that before all your mods then? I mean since you have about a 500 crank hp car. Kinda changing the parameters.

Raced him before my headers and after with him in the same set up.

I've race an STi with just CB, CAI, and Tune and that wus a close race.
