NPP Drone at 900 rpm - SS with A8

Question for anyone with SS, automatic and NPP: Has anyone else noticed an exhaust drone right in the 850 to 950 rpm range? It disappears when it idles below or revs above that range, but right in that range it sounds like someone installed a subwoofer in my trunk. (I have a 1SS with standard radio, so no subs and no noise cancelation). I'm curious if this is a "get used to it" or "get it looked at issue".

I notice quite a bit of drone right before my car switches back to V8 mode when I have cruise on and it need the extra power.

Another reason AFM sucks...GM tried combat this with extra valves in the exhaust, didn't really help. Thankfully the manual doesn't have AFM, and auto guys should be able to tune it out soon...

It's only at idle, so I was thinking it was not related to AFM. Do any of the current vette owners have any input?

Wait, it's at idle? Then I'm thinking exhaust rattle or leak.

Yes, I understand that some noise gets in... and I'm ok with that. I drove a 1LE with the dual stage exhaust for a while and it made the most beautiful noise I've ever heard in my life. This is a bit different. I'm experiencing a significant drone at only a small rpm range. I would like to know if other 2016's with the same setup experience the same thing. If they do, then it's part of the design. If I'm the only one, then I have a valve somewhere not working properly.

I've had no issues with drone. Today I even pulled fuse 51 as a test to keep the rear valves open all the time since they'll close even in sport and track while in v4 mode and in v8 mode in the higher gears at low rpm and won't reopen until somewhere around 1700rpm. Still no drone.

So by pulling the fuse you have been able to verify it keeps it open?

It definitely sounds that way to my ears. I never heard anything previously when I was on the highway until I pushed the gas enough to get up closer to 2k rpms. Now I can hear it as soon as it pops out of v4 mode. There's also fuse 43 for the front afm valves but I'm keeping that there. I don't want to hear my car in v4 mode. Lol.

I found this thread to be very helpful. Seems to function the same for our cars from what I'm noticing driving around the past few weeks, only the fuse numbers are different.

I have an A8 2SS and the NPP sounds glorious wide open during a cold start. I was a little disappointed though when driving that it wasn't loud enough for me even in track mode. I hate to say it, but my 5th gen 1LT with a MRT V2 exhaust, Xpipe and resonator delete sounded louder under load and at WOT. I'm going to try the fuse pull and see if that ups the decibel level a bit.

I haven't heard any drone really not sure what the complaint is , when ever you drop to 4 cylinders your saving money pros and cons to everything. Here is the biggest pro , and the A8 is faster than the 6sp manual all day .

Pulling the fuse won't make it louder but you'll hear it more bc it will be open at low rpms while driving around at speed
