Let's not let this thread spiral into a complete sh*t show. There is no argument. We all know, stock vs. stock, the 6th Gen V6 could never touch an LS3. If you believe that it'd be a close race, then you're either delirious or trolling...HARD.

going off of their logic of 'hanging' with 5th gen V8's, my SS can hang with a GTR because i sorta kept up with one in mexico

I don't even know who would debate this. My only explanation is "hardcore trolling".

Camaro 6 running with a 5th gen v8.
I haven’t raced one yet, but I’m not stock so I’m sure my car would gap a 6th gen v6 lol. Not even sure how much modding potential there is for the 6th gen v6. Here’s a video from Lethal garage involving a modified 6th gen v6 vs a 5th gen modded ss. The v6 owner was sure he could destroy a 5th gen hahaha how did you get banned from the Camaro6 forum? Hahaha

I would think an auto tranny 6th gen V6 LT would actually be fairly close to an auto tranny 5th gen SS. Yes the SS has an extra 65 hp (400-335) and much better torque, but the 6th gen weighs a couple hundred pounds less I think and it has an 8 speed v. 6 speed tranny, so I assume it also has better gearing down low for quicker acceleration (or maybe the extra gears are all just overdrive for better fuel economy while cruising down the highway?).
My 323 hp '14 2LT 6 spd auto tranny vert feels just as quick as my 285 hp '97 Z/28 4 spd auto tranny vert and has a much higher top speed stock (155 governed v. about 115 governed since I did not have the upgraded tire package). |

Ive had 3 v6 6th gens challenge me since they came out. 1st one was egging me for a couple miles so i said F it ill give in. I got right behind him. So he hit it about 60 i hit and come around him like he dropped an anchor. The other 2 encounters were worse since i didn't give them the hit. They have no chance. They put up about the same resistance as a 370z or a 5spd rt challenger, not much. I really dont get the 6th gen V6 superiority complex either. The 6G SS is performer, but there's no way id buy a V6 6th over an L99 or LS3. Or any V8 muscle......

An L99 though. Again, objectively speaking, look at the car magazine tests. Car & Driver. 2010 SS L99, 4.8 0-60, 13.3 @107. 2016 V6 8L45, 5.2 0-60, 13.8 @104. They aren't in totally different worlds. A 15 1LE they tested was like 4.5 0-60 and 12.8 @111. So is a 2010 L99 in a completely different world from a 2015 LS3? To quote my own previous post, "I'm sure the L99 will be faster but I'd be hard pressed to believe an 8L LGX would lose like the LFX that prefers to act like it's chained to the ground." Anyone in a 16+ V6 that thinks an LS3 is racing them or that they are going to make up a full second somewhere, stock or not, is mad though. We agree there.

I cringe if there are any side streets someone might pull out from or other traffic but it was fairly clear. I don't have the link but there is a video with a white w/ blue stripe scat pak vs ZL1 and it did "hang with" it. From a roll if one car starts a few tenths of a second first, the faster car can't gap them so easy from e.g. 30-80mph without a huge hp difference. |

I pulled the vid .....totally forgot about the racing rules in my hastiness to post. Lets not forget the ls3 doesn't beat the l99 down tbe track so keep things in perspective. Imo the 6th gen v6 is not in the same league either SS.

Yeah I do the same. Anything can happen in a matter of seconds. In this case it looked like t was a back road or something. I haven’t seen that video, but I would believe that more since the zl1 is heavier than the challenger
