My biggest disappointment at Fest III is I didn't see you or your car.

Here are some pics, etc. I promised.

I have to say... the guys at IPS are amazing! They got the car running and tuned it on Thursday night. They brought it over to the fest on Friday and we did some test and tune passes. Mark Carlyle actually did the driving this weekend. (I want a little seat time in it before I line up at the track for the first time.)

On Saturday morning the car qualified second and came in third for the V8 Unlimited Heads Up class with a best time of 10.067. The best trap speed was 143 mph.

A few pics from this weekend...

Here is a video of our quarter final pass.

This was very much a test and tune weekend for the car. We think we can get quite a bit more out of it. We never got a really good launch. The car needs to have a transbrake installed and needs to have the converter dialed in a bit more. Also, they didn't get the boost controller installed yet. So, we ran at 12 psi this weekend off the waste gate springs.

I want to add that the guys at IPS, especially Tom and his team, worked their butts off to get the car ready in time for the Fest and they did a superb job. I am VERY grateful to that whole crew for what they did to make all of this happen this weekend. I also owe Mark Carlyle a huge debt of gratitude for driving my car and for hauling it to Indy for me. He is a truly generous and amazing person.

I have gained a whole new perspective about drag racing and the folks who do it well. This is the first time I've ever been to a track event like this where I was actually somewhat involved with the inner workings of getting a car ready to go. The amount of work that goes into getting a car ready is one thing but there is also a lot of work that has to be done at the track to really be competitive and these guys do it and do it well. I am very impressed with the whole team. I have a great respect for what they do and I'm proud to be able to work with IPS.

Big kudos Terri to the whole team that made it happen for you this weekend, your whip is one serious beast and it looks like it did really well coming right out of the shop and only running 12 pounds of boost! You can definitely run this thing in the 9's for sure and i will be looking here often to see when that happens with you behind the wheel!

Absolutley Awesome pics and video T !!! Wow

Glad you got the chance to see first hand what it really takes to have a fast, competitive car. Smaug is just the start...and as we know it is all about the people. Sounds like IPS came through in the clinch and you had the heavy hitters in your corner. Being in the middle of a group of experts is worth its weight in gold. Congratulations !!

They did some great work on the car man. You have done a great job waiting. You will easily hit low 9's running 20psi.

IPS absolutely came through for me and I had the best of the best with me and my car this weekend. I was really impressed that the owner of IPS (Stas) came out to the track too. I never really talked to him much before, but he told me they are very serious about quality track support for their clients. I learned a lot by being in the middle of things this with all of them. I had only talked with them in the shop before. But, they are really in their element at the track. I can see why this sport can become so addictive. There is always something more to tweak to make the faster...

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. You guys all rock.

I'm off to get the forms to get that NHRA license I am going to need.

Randy,
It was very cool to meet you and Bonnie at the Fest. Your car is sweet too. I feel bad that I messed up the video of one of your passes.

The gauge faces will happen at some point. My car wasn't ever available to for more than a few minutes here and there. The guys at IPS were working on it constantly.

Wish I could have met you up there in Indy.

Saw your car and just about drooled all over it when I saw under the hood. Very, very clean and amazing.

Keep doing it!
