There are a number of people who have done the Brembo upgrade and not changed the "torque to yield" bolts that hold them in place (2 per caliper). I just came across a picture another Forum member sent me. Hoping it comes out large enough as you can actually see a bit of stretch on the bolt furthest right. That was a one time use bolt.

Today was a lot like Christmas! From Kevin at TPH Coating my calipers arrived! First the packaging; The individual boxes were stuffed with "popcorn" while each individual caliper was wrapped before putting inside the box. All four boxes then went inside a large box that was also fill with popcorn. There was no way this side of heaven that these babies were going to get damaged.

I had them finished in Lolly Pop red with a deep metallic silver base. They came out just beautiful.

Huge thanks to both Kevin and Ben for all the help and quality work.

One last note, customer relations is also fantastic. Several time I called Kevin either with questions or about the status, each and every time he answer the telephone and had the answers. Thanks my friend.

Being I had the weekend off before my wife's surgery this week I decided to do the Brembo install. To say the least it was a learning experience. Once the Camaro was on the lift I first removed all four tires. Then I removed all the calipers, rotors, brake lines and axle nuts. OK, lets spend an hour cleaning as all is going well. Next I started with the font driver's side, the install was wonderful and very smooth. Onto the front passenger side, installed the rotor and loaded caliper, God it's looking good. Went to install the SS brake line to the caliper and I knew right away something was not right. The banjo bolt seemed to go much deeper before it started screwing down? Pulled the bolt, looked good but I still tried a different one.... same thing. I tightened it down as tight as I could by hand then went to snug it with a wrench (not torqued) and it felt like it was slipping. Pulled the banjo bolt out and I could see a small amount of threads. Removed the caliper and inspected it closely, no threads for at least 1/4". Not a clue as to how this happened. But what is done is done. Now everything I removed must be reinstalled! I left for home six hours later exactly the same way drove in.
Today I went to GM and ordered 4 more front caliper bolts and 4 more crush washers. Yesterday morning I spoke with "The Parts Farm" in Lyons GA who was kind enough to sell me a front passenger Brembo caliper for $50.00 including shipping it to the powder coater. Another $75.00 for coating. With the lift rental of $48.00, GM parts and various other shop supplies this has been a $200.00 nightmare.
One other note, speaking with Kevin at TPH Coatings, we spoke about the torque value on the banjo bolt. GM has the torque listed at 30 foot pounds, that is a tremendous amount of torque and this being the weakest point of the caliper. I never did get to torque the passenger front down but did the driver's front. I don't believe I will apply that much torque on the next go around.
The way I look at it is I could have blown a head gasket and tried to lay blame everywhere but I would rather chalk it up as a learning experience, I can remove and replace the Brembo brake system in my sleep, with the help of my wallet.
Now I have to wait until the wife recovers from her surgery. Thanks for listening, I feel better!

Congrats on getting your calipers done and taking on the job. IMHO this is the best mod for V6 owners.

I think I messed up. I have my calipers with the bleed screws facing down instead of up.

Crossover brake line to the bottom for protection.

The "Lolly Pop Red" that is displayed on my Brembo calipers IS NOT paint. I had them "Powder coated by TPH powder coating. The heat of the brakes will not damage this coating. Much thicker than spray paint and the shine is out of this world. I have had powder coated caliper in the past on other vehicles and I found them so easy to clean, brake dust never bothered them.

Cost more than a can of spray paint but I think your going to get what your pay for.

Besides....Kevin is a standup guy who does quality work.

Crossover Line

Goes across the bottom of the caliper and the bleed screws are on top since air goes/travels up so when you bleed the brakes air is pushed up and out through the bleeder. Not a protection thing or at least that's my understanding.

You are correct, the correction only came from my observation, nothing I read.

Besides the caliper what else did you change?

Did you use the correct torque values?

For any of you folks that have the 2LT that came with the factory spare doughnut tire and you do the "Brembo" conversion, don't forget your spare will no long workey!

Another Forum member pointed this out to me. Need a 2" spacer to clear the much larger Brembo calipers. A gent on EBay just sold me one for $44.99 shipped. Should be here on the 7th of December. I never thought of that but so happy someone pointed it out before I was on the side of the road cussing like a sailor!

That would have been awkward. Get you a nice set of RS 20" wheels or a set of the MMR M017 6 Gen 1LE wheels.
The Gen 6 page has a lot of good deals too.
