Thumbs down GM OSHAWA: ANOTHER KICK IN THE TEETH

Well, it looks like the people in the ivory towers, in Detroit, have surfaced, and are sinking their teeth into the GM Oshawa Plant, AGAIN!

I'll let you read the story and draw your own opinions.

All I will say (just my opinion), is, I feel sorry for the plant employees, who work so hard, produce TOP QUALITY VEHICLES
(known worldwide), make so many concessions to help the company, and for what?
To get "kicked in the teeth" and lose their jobs...Thank you very much GM.

I think we should support the employees and express our concerns to the Provincial & Federal Governments.

Oshawa MPP: Jerry J. Ouellette - Contact Information jerry.ouellette@pc.ola.org

I think it's time to start chopping at the top, again, like when Obama started firing executives during the restructuring, in order to save the company from bankruptcy.

it's obvious the camaro is going back to the states.. the americans want it so bad.

at least, it's not the whole plant closing like they did in st-therese... i remember quite well, when the pontiac 6000 and the chevy celebrity was done, workers were on hold they did not know what was going to happen, if there is no contract no line to produce then it's shutdown.. until 91 when they announced that, the plant was going to do the f-bodies.. it was a relief ,buy only for a short period time.
i know it will be sad to lose some jobs--i hope not for my fellow Ontarians- just hope they will be no lost and all will be re-assigned on the other lines that Oshawa produce.

Worst thing government ever did was allow people to work over 65...We have like 5 people 70 years old and about 10 in between. How are young people gonna get jobs when the old ones wont leave? They guys have been here 25 to 40 years...still wont leave ,it actually cost the idiots to stay cause we have golden 80s. I think its the Impalas going not Camaro

- The Camaro is staying, it's the other line that's closing.
- Rumour was that they were going to do a Cadillac there, but obviously it got shot down.
- Local radio said yesterday that there are 6 "spin off" jobs from every 1 guy/girl on the line.
- This area is going to be slammed hard 12 months from now.
- Very sad news.

Soo.....GM is shutting down a line in a factory that has won many quality awards. Makes perfect sense to me.

Can't see the Gov't being able to influence much. Simple fact is GM can can do whatever it wants....it's not like we OWN shares in the company or anything.

Next time GM needs a bailout or asks for money to "help" them stay competitive...just say no.
