Broken TR6060

Hey all. It finally happened....the main shaft of my early VIN 2010 tr6060 snapped clear off. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a transmission replacement? I'd like to find something used but want to be sure I'm getting one that won't break again. Putting down ~600rwhp. I know GM knew this main shaft was an issue but there's nothing they'll do for me now! I also have heard a 2011+ 6060 had this issue corrected but want to know what to look for. Thanks!

You could always rebuild it with updated output shaft and add rear support bearing. Bearing was taken out of the design before production started to save money. Easy mod.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to swap for a trans that they added the bearing back in or did they never add it back in? I have quotes for over 3k to rebuild.

GEn5DIY has some leftover z/28 transmissions, maybe this is an option?

Nice. Thanks. Z28 6060 would bolt right up and my DSS one piece would work right?

I just bought a brand new mm6 tranny from gm for about $2500 US. This is the stock tranny from the 1LE/z28 car, rated for more power and cheaper than the m10.

I was also looking at the mg9 from the zl1 camaro rated at even more power...which ironically is even cheaper new from gm, but after lots of research I have found some guys needing the change the input shaft to be shorter to work with the 6 bolt crank.

And rockland standard gear kinda raped me for the rear support bearing and clips at about 140usd shipped, but I figure it's a good mod to have before I throw the new tranny in. The zl1 type tranny has this bearing from the factory of course...but would require full disassembly to change input shaft and I don't want to do that.

I looked around at rebuilds and it seemed the most cost effective decision for me.

I broke mine also. I was going to have rkt, rpm or tick performance do the rebuild with the billet output shaft but ended up putting a 4L80 in it. No one would sell me just the billet output shaft.

The later TR6060's (past 2010) have been pretty robust. Don't waste your money on a "built" one, IMO, for the 2-cents it's worth.

Thanks. Do you have a link to what you bought? Wondering if this will work (and I'd add the bearing support to it). Thanks!

What did this swap cost you?

Z/28 one will work and thats a killer deal but you'll need a tune due to different ratios, same goes for the 1LE or ZL1 trans since they all have the closer gearing ratios.

Thanks. So the input splines are the same from SS 6060 to Z/28? I want to be sure my upgraded Monster clutch and flywheel will work too. I can update the tune and I did for the new gears/rear I put in it. I'm assuming you're saying it will need a tune due to the speedo?

Yes speedo, flywheel should only need changing if you went LS7/LS9 due to crank bolt pattern differences but it never hurts to call and talk to Monster since I'm just an idiot on the internet with some scotch in me.

It should be a bolt in. I am up in Canada and this is who I used. They were the cheapest when I bought a zl1 fuel pump too.

https://www.gmpartswholesale.ca/oem-...ssion-24261736

I put it in my cart but didn't pay for the evening and was sent a discount code for 5% off too.

I also blew the main shaft and grenaded a bunch more. I want to track this car soon so we will see how it does. As far as tune, my guy is gonna tune me for more boost in a month anyway, he can change that....and account for the new 305 rubber :$
