Nice run indeed... But did you hear that lull in torque and RPMs when he slid it into 4th gear. WOW, I never really noticed it was that bad. I gotta find an empty airfield to see if mine is the same. It just seems like somebody put a cork on the torque when you hit 4th gear.

Good luck on 200mph Eric!!! Be Safe so we can see more vids.

I see that the run was at Dade-Collier. Who sanctioned the run? In addition what were the rules you had to abide by.

I thought of running my car here in NC, with the sanctioning body of ECTA (East Coast Timing Association). They make it quite clear, any vehicle over 135 must have a roll cage. They also have rules pertaining to clothes and many other safety issues.

Just want to go fast without killing someone.

Yup, thats the stock gearing for you. It helped when we bumped up the rev limiter to 7200rpm but it still goes beyond the sweet spot.

Thanks, I'll keep you guys posted on the progress

Yes it does, the M6 will reach terminal velocity in 5th gear. 6th is only an overdrive.

I have had the car up to 186mph in 5th with plenty of rpms left

Top Gun Run are the organizers for the event. It's run pretty much the same way as the Texas Mile and not sanctioned by anybody (yet).

Only rules are helmet and they tech the car to be in safe driving condition. Besides that you are on your own on the track so if anything happens it would only be one self that could get hurt.

I mean most performance cars will hit over 135mph in a mile easily, and these new cars are designed to go these speeds with ease so I don't see a cage being necessary. That will just bring the participant level to like 2% of what it is now. Now if there where 2 cars on the track at the same time is one thing, but here you are by yourself with a couple hundred feet of run off zones, and then plenty of grass to play around in.

I used to hit 135mph daily when living in Germany

I do agree about the clothing though.
