1979 Z28 Fuel Pump replacement

Hi All,

I'm a new forum member (today) and signed up because I'm getting my 79 Z28 back on the road after many years.

I had a small fuel leak after starting the car. It seems to come from the little hole that I think is telling me that the diaphram is faulty. So I looked for the a replacment fuel pump similar to the one I'm replacing - which is an AC brand, but has no part number on it. I THINK it is the original one.

Can someone tell me where I can get this fuel pump at - or if they are still made? The car is a four speed, has headers, and might have some internal work done early in its life (cam?) but other than that is pretty much a stock motor, so I'm not intending to put a big pump on it at this stage of the game...

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Scott

I would go to the NAPA and pick one up. If it leaks out the weeping hole it needs to be replaced. No need to upgrade that stock pump. Any parts store should have one on the shelf.

I'll go to one of the auto parts stores, but I was checking the internet and found some that were for a 350 but said it was only for applications with no AC and automatics only - not sure how that could be if I get one with 7.5 to 9 PSI and a 3/8" supply line, and also has a vent line right?

Found a NAPA one online!

Part Number: NFP M6101
Product Line: NAPA Fuel Pumps

Attributes: Fuel Pump Fitting Size[s] : 3/8" 90 Degree; 5/8"-18 UNF-2B
Fuel Pump Gallons Per Hour : 23
Fuel Pump Pressure Rating : 7.5 lb - 9 lb

Warranty: See Manufacturer for Warranty Information
Important Information: w/ Air Conditioning
w/ Automatic Transmission

Thanks for the above reply Stingr69

Pretty much any small block Chevy pump will work. You could do factory replacement for cheap or go with something like a Holley if you wanted to. Having A/C really has absolutely nothing to do with it
