The September Automobile Magazine has a shootout of sorts with the sons of Parnelli Jones and Mark Donohue driving a 2010 Camaro and 2010 Mustang.
Some interesting comments.
For Mustang:
A car you can hustle, well balanced, doesn't push, brakes and gearing not up to par, engine caught between gears and cam until around 4000 RPM's, low speed grip much better, you can toss it into turns, more fun to drive, Mustang faster in mid corner,
For Camaro:
engine is a stump puller, excellent brakes, almost too good, twitchy, not nimble, pushes, friendly car, it's a Pig, (Jones) won't turn in corners, runs away and hides on straightaways, no replacement for displacement.
Magazine calls it a draw.
I love the Camaro but I admire what the Mustang can do on 261 cubic inches and regular fuel.

Automobile Mag is BS. They never give any specs and they hardly do any tests of their own. Any car thats not a bimmer is bad for them. Road and Track had a nice article this month on muscle cars. Even though the Mustang won (for agility, low-weight etc) they were honest and gave good comments on every car.
