How do I de-spring my auto headlight switch?

As the title asks, how do I de-spring my headlight switch?

My SS is a 2014 with the RS package. The headlight switch has a spring that keeps it in the “auto” mode unless I hold it counterclockwise. I want manual control of my headlights and not have them turning on every time I start the car in the garage and then off again when I back out side. Then on again when I get to work (parking garage) then off again when I shut the car off. Crazy.

Any link or tips is appreciated. Thanks.

i think not that switch go's to the bcm.
so it's not as simple as it once was. a computer turn the lights on and off when you turn that switch you are sending a request to the computer to turn off the lights.it's over lee complicated

Here’s what I do. Hold the switch to left as you turn the ignition on, then release. Your lights are now off. This includes your DRL’s. If you want the DRL’s on, turn the switch to the left again and auto is enabled, once you exit the garage. Prior to going in the parking garage, turn the switch to the left again and everything is off. For the few times you need to do this, your better off leaving the spring intact. I believe there’s talk about the switch being “loose” with out the spring in. I’ll see if I can find the thread.
