Hopefully the 6th Gen will come out at a lower weight which in itself would be a huge gain.
Doubtful they will go to 650HP, they usually detune the top vette motor like they did with the current ZL1 it's a detuned ZR1 motor. The Hellcat will still have bragging rights with "707 HORSEPOWER".

Yes the stage is now set, the question is will the next Gen ZL1 have what it takes to run the 1/4 in 10.8. If Chevy wants to out do the competition it will have to unless they decides the 1/4 mile competition doesn't matter and want to take a different route, and if that's the case why do they need a ZL1, Z28, and 1LE that are all more about road course and all around driving........ it's going to be interesting in the next 18 - 24 months and my eyes are wide open...

To me a car with 707 HP getting beat by a car with around 500 to 570 just doesn't sound like bragging rights. Not bashing just sayin.

It doesn't need to run 10.8 the time on stock tires was 11.2.

This is getting stupid. 700 horsepower on a stock car. And they don't even MOVE. They're so heavy it's disgusting.

Give me a well-designed car that's built to last, can take a turn and weighs <3500 lbs. At that level, you only need ~400 horsepower or so to be a monster. I'm tired of these insanely powerful but slow bricks that can't get out of their own way. Even the current ZL1 angers me. All that power and it runs 12's. What would 580 horsepower give you in a 4th gen? 10's? Come on, now.

While we're complaining stop and enjoy what we're witnessing because in 10 years you probably won't see any of these cars being produced.

Just how many 570 hp cars do you know that run 11.20's on street tires, let alone stock?
11.20's STOCK is moving it.

Wasn't talking stock I was talking about cars off the fast list with mods for WAY LESS money. I very seriously doubt this Hello Kitty will be less than 60k wouldn't you say?

Some butt hurt 'round here man!
Hellcat is wicked and the 1/4 times are no slouch...but for gt500/zl1 price territory, it should. Frankly, the zl1 lacks a lot. Give me a 650 c7z06 motor in a 3400lb camaro for the 6th gen and the camaro will be on top. My guess is the camaro team will come back touting road course information With the current situation, but in the back of their minds they are trying to figure out a trump card to play for 2016/17.

I know this site is dedicated to Camaro enthusiasts and all, but man this group definitely drinks too much Camaro Kool Aid. This a Hellcat is a bad ass muscle car, yes muscle car. I love my Chevrolets but I'd buy one of these Hellcats.

Talking kool aid, you would buy the car based on what you have heard so far? This thing could be a heaping pile of a lemon! The ZL1 is a proven legend, the car has been boosted to well over 700 rwhp and the car handles it all, we jave a ZL1 running in the nines, I am guessing they probably pushed the hellcat close to its limit already, I heard they were actually going to try a steering wheel and see if it will turn.

11.2 is not slow for a factory stock car at all. I agree though. Take weight out and a car doesn't need as much power to go the same time. Just common sense on that. They can't build cars like camaros, challengers and mustangs without being heavy these days unless you want to pay a much higher cost for one. Thus, this is why they need the big power. You can alway purchase a much lighter car and drop in the big power if you like. No one is stopping you.
