A standard transmission is currently the best anti-theft device known.

/I like to tease, but really don't care. Drive what you want.

Have them come to a NHRA or IHRA professional drag race some time and tell the world champions that and see if he gets away in one piece.

Other than Pro Stock class, 99.9% of all are automatics.

Allthough if your road tracking it a manual has advantages, at the dragstrip you will have the advantage for same powered car hands down.

2. They drive a V6 and are tired of V8 people making comments about them

3. People trying to justify having bought an automatic

It's a lot bit mentally hilarious. I must not see the negativity, frankly I don't care if someone is young or old, paid for the car or it was bought for them, or if it's a V6, V8, manual, or automatic...

DO YOU ENJOY YOUR CAR? Nuff said

But please, keep starting these threads, they are funny
(ps, yes that pic of the chicks on the car is sexy)

Well said

That is the truth! It's not quite 99.9% because a number of the sportsman classes (though I get these guys are not supposed to be professional) require manual transmissions, but automatics are definitely in the majority. At a bracket racing event, I bet your 99.9% is spot on.

Well said. When I was looking around I specifically wanted a 2ss/rs rally yellow auto. I looked around and all I found was manuals, so I test drove one just so I can say I did. Kept on hunting for weeks and found what I was looking for. My cars a weekend/sunny day car, I live in the city, I'm 25 years old and don't care to drive a manual, not saying that I have anything against them I'll probably own more down the line. Part of me says I should have got the manual but then I think I love being able to switch from paddles to auto and I know the only reason I would have got the manual is just so I can tell people its Manual but deep down I wouldn't be happy. Just my view... And always remember why you got it in the first place and enjoy.

Nothing to do with manliness and everything to do with skill... automatics while having a bunch of benefits don't require the same skill level to drive.

That being said my current vehicle is an automatic as it's a DD, however, I'm still considering an automatic Camaro as part of me would like my wife to be able to drive it. The only big negative to the automatic Camaro is the L99...

A GM engineer confided to me the automatics have 26 less horsepower because the old men and girls driving the automatics would be able to handle the decreased horsepower better.
