This is no doubt good news for us as well...this will keep GMs prices competitive or people we walk down the road to pick up a chally...even though I will not, it will no doubt be a bargaining tool.

+10000

Most serious drag racers will probably opt for the R/T and throw the remaining money into modifications.

An aggressive cam alone can easily make up most (if not all or more) of that 55bhp difference, especially in a engine with 5.7L of displacement, and cost far less than $10,000 to do so.

I still don't like throwing around "under $30,000." that is just marketing and perception. It is only $5 under the magic $30K before options, like the G8 used to be. I can't even get a meal at Burger King for under $5 anymore.

Sorry, but that just isn't something to really boast about.

The U.S. MSRP for the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 is $39,995 (including $675 destination). The 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offers an available six-speed manual transmission or standard five-speed automatic transmission mated to the SRT-exclusive 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 engine that produces 425 horsepower
Well...thats about $2000 more than the 2008. But once you add in the gas guzzler tax of $2100 its well over 40K. I hope GM can get around the tax like they did on the 4th Gen cars. They will have to achieve a combined mpg rating of 22.5 or better to avoid the tax. 18city/27highway would do it.

The pricing for the V6 is pretty good and it sure is a beautiful car. on the other hand, the Hemi R/T seems to slightly high. I was expecting the V8 for around 27 - 28K. W/e, its seems very good but i cant wait for the Camaro Pricing

I think the point is it is not OVER $30,000 which would never be $30,005 but more likely $30,995 ??????

I guess since this is related to pricing even if its not a Camaro was the reasoning for why it was moved here?

Just checking so I know where to post in the future.

yeah...sorta. It reflects on how the Camaro will HAVE to be priced in order to be viable competition. So, in that way -- its okay in here.

Annnd, I merged this and another thread...and the forums put them in here (the location of the other thread)......

I think this is perfect timing. Just before GM gets on with production and gets a feel for its competition. I feel confident that GM will keep Camaro with in these price ranges. The big wigs at GM aren't fools. In fact I like the idea of the March 2009 release better than the a Fall 08 release. GM has just enough time to get the marketing and production plans finalized to beat Ford and Dogde. In my opinion, this post is probably one of the more relavent and important of the last year.

That's pretty much the pricing line-up that most of us have been expecting for the Camaro, but do you think GM will try to undercut this, charge more, or just stay neck and neck? Personally I think these prices are an anolog for what Lutz called "premium pricing" a few months back and are accurate indicators of we should expect to pay.

This is exactly what I would expect for the Camaro, just like the G8. 30k range for the 369 ponies and 40k range for the LS3 with the v6's in the low 20k range. I think if GM is focused on the entry level Camaro getting better gas mileage than the Mustang and Challenger that is what will make the difference for them as far as sales numbers. If they can build an entry level Camaro with mileage in the 24/30 range I think they will dominate the market. For the rest of us who have to have the V8 if they can get 18/27 and 400 ponies I an sure we would be more than happy.

That R/T does'nt sound too bad. Looks good and has a lot of options. It's a little big and overpriced for my tastes, but if they start offering 3k rebates like the chargers in a year or two because of gas prices, who knows...But the pricing still has me worried. Will Chevy go after the SRT8 with the base V8 or the R/T? A 400hp camaro at around 3800 lbs should kick some SRT butt, especially if it comes in at around 29k or so, but at mid-to upper 30's, forget it, leave it to you rich guys.

NOW>>>Who was it that kept worrying that the Camaro's would be overpriced!!! If Dodge has prices this low....guess what. GM MUST compete. Quit worrying......................

I guess I'm starting to see your point Dragon, to be honest I was expecting the R/T being in the $32,000 range, cant wait for the maro to come out
