Smile Camaro & Firebird Fall Cruise this Sunday October 25, 2009 in Southeast Michigan

Street Lethal Performance F-Body Organization Car Club's Annual Fall Cruise

If you have a Camaro or Firebird and are looking for something to do this weekend come on out and join us for a fun Cruise!

Date - Sunday October 25, 2009
Time - 11am-??? (everyone is usually home by the time it starts getting dark)
Meeting Location - Downtown Mt. Clemens, Michigan on Main Street across from Gus's Coney Island (55 North Main Street, Mt. Clemens, Michigan 48043)
Meeting Time - Meet at 11am-Noon (Leave at Noon to start the cruise). Drivers Meeting at 11:45am to discuss the route and any other issues including planned stops.

Cruise Route - Posted below. We have a very scenic route for this years Fall Cruise. It is a nice drive along the river with views of not only the leaves and their variety of differnt colors but historic homes that were built along the riverfront stretching from New Baltimore to Port Huron.

Event Info...

Fall Cruise Route: At noon we will head North on Main Street and that will turn into North Gratiot Avenue. We will follow that a few miles till we hit Hall Road (M-59). We will turn right onto Hall Road (M-59) and take that to Jefferson Avenue. We will turn left onto Jefferson Avenue and follow that till we come to 23 Mile Road (29). We will turn right onto 23 Mile Road (29) and follow that along the St. Clair River. We stay on (29) till we merge with Gratiot Avenue. We will stay on Gratiot and go thru Downtown Port Huron and when we come to Pine Grove Park we will make a right and follow that till we come to the opening where we will see the Blue Water Bridge. After a few pictures and hanging out for a little while (depending on how cold it is) we can decide if we all would like to stop somewhere for a bite to eat.

After and if we stop for a bite to eat north of the Blue Water Bridge we can all head south to the I-69/I-94 Freeway entrance. If you will be taking I-69 home please let us know ahead of time (at the bridge or where we stop to eat if we do) and stay to the back so that noone will follow you and go the wrong way. For everyone else we will take I-94 west back to Mt. Clemens. There is one rest stop betwen Port Huron and Mt. Clemens and if everyone wants we can stop there before we finish heading home. If you will be getting off at an exit please pull to the back of the group so noone follows. After leaving the rest stop and heading west on I-94 heading back towards Mt. Clemens everyone can dispurse at the exit they need to head home.

Construction Free Route: I mapped out this route yesterday and there is No Construction whatsoever! Only 2 areas had the famous Orange/White Barrels and they were just along the side of the road. Again this route has no construction at all. The barrels were just off to the side of the road. One spot was for half a mile and the other was on I-94 for about 2 miles.

Fall Cruise Route Mileage: The approx. mileage from Mt. Clemens to Port Huron and back to Mt. Clemens was 105 miles.

Fall Cruise Route Total Time: With traveling the posted speed and making no stops this route would take 2 hours - 2 hours & 15 minutes. The more stops we make the longer it will take us. Please remember we planned the route early enough so that everyone can make it home before dark.

Possible Stops for Fall Cruise: Besides us stoping at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron we have a few other stops to pick from that we think would be great spots for nice pictures. One is at a Boat Launch Area in Marine City. Another is at Palmer Park in St. Clair and the last one would be at the rest stop on I-94. Even if we stop for 20-30 minutes at each of these locations we will still be home at a descent time and before dark depending on where you live.

Restaurants: If we decide to stop somewhere to eat it will be after the Blue Water Bridge stop. Just north of the bridge there are alot of places to eat. The place we always would go to (Huron Athletic Club) is no longer in buisness. There is a Applebees, Big Boys, Olive Garden, Chilis, Ruby Tuesdays, B-Dubs, Coney Island North, Cheap Charlies and Teds Coney Island. All of these are located by the Birchwood Mall.

Weather: This is a weather depending event. If it is going to be crummy weather we will reschedual it for the following Sunday, which is November 1st, 2009. If you are unsure please check the website or contact a Club Staff Member.

Reminders: Please remember to have a full tank of gas for your F-Body! Dress appropiate for the weather and take advantage of the rest stops, we do not want to be stopping unless it is a planned stop.

Final Notes: We are hoping for good weather and would like to see as many members out to this event as possible if the weather does cooperate for us. If you have friends with F-Bodies please invite them along also. If your F-Body is down for the year and you would still like to attend please reply to this post and see if someone wouldn't mind a passenger to ride along with. You can always meet up with us at the meeting location and jump in with someone. Another important reminder is to please be on time to the meeting location and have your gas tanks filled so we don't have to make unnecessary stops. We are meeting between 11am-noon. We will leave at noon so please don't be late! At 11:45 we will have a drivers meeting to discuss the route and any other issues including planned stops. Hope to see everyone out for a fun Cruise with our Club!
