NPP Dual-Mode Exhaust Question
I am financially preparing for my new Camaro convertible in the summer of 2015. I am looking at a few options and I do like the NPP (Dual-Mode Exhaust) option.
My question is: Can I purchase the NPP option (and/or Rally Stripes) AFTER I have already purchased the vehicle? Or is this on a per-dealership basis? In other words, I want to purchase the vehicle with the necessities (Transmission, RS Package, Premium sound, etc.) to keep the monthly payment down, then add Rally Stripes and/or the NPP after. After asking around about the dealership's ability to apply the Rally Stripes, a co-worker of mine has told me that "dealerships live for that". I am aware it is expensive, but I have read that having factory options has a higher resale value than having "aftermarket" (possibly cheaper) options. Thanks!

I believe you get off the cheapest by adding all your options on your original order. And you run the risk of shoddy worksmanship at your local service department as opposed to factory personnel that do these options on a regular basis, not to mention starting from scratch rather than having to make alterations.

On the rally stripes, you may be able to sub out the work to a decent shop with good results without too much trouble.
However, the NPP is far, far cheaper to have installed from the factory. The other way, you are essentially paying for the stock exhaust and then paying full price for the NPP + installation. By having it done through the order you only pay NPP - stock exhaust pricing. Hence, the 800 price tag. It's a very good exhaust and cheaper than any decent cat-back when you order it. |

I do not know of anybody that has successfully installed the NPP with full factory functionality after the fact. If you want NPP, get it from the factory....PERIOD.

The Camaro I wanted did not come with the rally stripes. I had the dealer to it. They did it for $200 to close the deal. If the dealer does it, then the stripes are covered by the bumper to bumper warranty.
With that said, I was looking at small town dealers and they were not sure if they could do a good job. I went to a large dealer where they have 30 Camaros on the lot. They stated they have a factory certified guy that does the striping. He did a perfect job. |

The npp exhaust and rally stripes are combined around 1200 worth of extras. That's an extra 20$ a month on a 5 year loan. Is it even worth the BS to deal with it afterwards? To me it wouldn't be but that's a decision you'd have to make for yourself.

The NPP exhaust also has a different rear valance, order it from the factory. The NPP was developed from the ZL1. Got it on my car and I love it!

As others have said order the exhaust on the car. Stripes are a crap shoot. Some aftermarket are very good and others are not so good.
I have the npp on my car and love it. Saved me a lot of money compared to ordering an aftermarket cat back system. My stripes were factory installed too and are perfect.

To answer the OPs question - This is not even a dealer installed option. You HAVE to get it from the factory when the car is built.
The only other option is buying a "used" NPP exhaust system and retrofit it to your Camaro. Many people have done this successfully, although it's simply a better deal and easier to get it built on the car. |

I added the NPP on my 2010. It cost much more than $800 when it was all said and done. But worth it since it was not available on the 2010

I have done the NPP conversion and would do it again. However, I would order the car with it.

You can buy takeoffs and some have different kits or ways to hook it up near factory in funcationality, if not exactly the same. But it is cheaper and easier to order the car with it.
Not available on Autos though... I would have loved it and may try to retrofit it to my car later anyway. |
