DOD/AFM drivability

Hey guys,
So I bought a friends 2011 SS a few weeks ago. Because I'm in a wheelchair I had to find one with the auto which means L99 and the AFM/DOD stuff. It drives like crap!!!!! I say this because my previous car was a the Ram Air Pontiac with the LS motor.

The Camaro just seems so sluggish, slow to accelerate, shifts slower than the second coming and it's constantly trying to stick in 6th gear with makes this horrible drone and lugs like crazy.

So I'm in the middle of this. Cam and all supporting hardware, headers, intake work, stall and of course the all important DOD/AFM delete. On top of that I have DynoSteve all lined up to program it all for me.

Tell me after all this the driving characteristics will get better?!?!?! My TA just seemed more violent and angry and accelerated faster it seems.....even tho it was less HP. And part of it is maybe this Camaro handles better and different without the live rear end?

I don't know. But wanting some piece of mind that this work I'm doing will help with the crappy little hitches the car seems to have now. Thanks for any input!

Mike

It's going to feel like a completely new car. Even just tuning a stock SS for the trans makes it feel way better!

Are you getting a stall to take advantage of the new cam?

You also don't know if it needed any routine maintenance as well, which will get taken care of during this too. Have faith, it will be awesome!

SWEET! Ok that makes me feel better. Just noticed the last few times I've driven it, it's been disappointing so. Was hoping the mods would change it drastically!

Yes, I'm going with a Brian Tooley Stage 4 cam, so they recommend a bigger stall converter. Also doing oil pump, timing chain, all gaskets and any other parts the mechanic sees that need to be replaced. It's got 65k of babied miles on it so. Hopefully it's fairly clean when he cracks it open.

Thanks for the input. After dropping a sum on the aftermarket parts I just start to have doubts that it's going to change it that much but I'm glad to hear it will be a new car.

We are making a twin turbo kit for my Camaro L99, but we don't intend to convert it to LS3 .

We are using a FuelTech for tunning all parameters related to fuel injection, turbine presion, etc.
https://www.fueltech.net/products/ft450-efi-system

As I understood we need to avoid floating valve by lowering the engine RPM and set a low presion for the turbine.

We will keep the same automatic transmission, what are the advices for this ? how do we proprely tunne this ?

Also can someone explain with quick words what is DOD/AFM ? it can be disabled when tunning ?
