Anyone using the UPF64R filter?

When I picked up the new car they said this was listed as an alternative & it’s supposed to be a premium version of the PF64.

I have one regular PF64 on the shelf.

Anyone know the difference? The box seems a tad larger.

I'm pretty sure the bypass pressure is higher on this filter. If me I wouldn't use it.

I somewhat remember that from other posts. Why would GM’s computers show it as an approved filter if it wasn’t compatible or acceptable?

My plan is I have a new laptop showing up in September. I will use my HPT to log oil pressure of one vs the other at RPM.

I believe they discontinued the PF64 and these are getting hard to find as remaining stock is depleted, if that's true there must be a replacement right?

If it isnt the UPF64 R what is it? No correct filter for C6 ZL1?

That’s interesting.

So this may be a bigger deal than I thought.

Again, GM’s very own system said use this filter. The dealer had 1 PF64, but 10 of these in stock.

Perhaps they want a higher/ or lower, cracking pressure? He referred to it in the system as “performance” filter. So I went with that.

Add: I will report what’s on the car when I change the oil. Perhaps GM is using these out of the factory now? Maybe others with recent 21’s can report what there’s were.

Damn my curiosity is stoked now.

PF64 is still made, GM changed part numbers. New number is 12706595

Well, the higher the pressure allowed means more flow through the filter at higher psi.

I bought like a dozen PF64's from either amazon or rock auto, i cant remember now but they were like $4 each or something.

That’s why because of the confusing info I use a Mobil 1 or Napa Gold oil filter and so far no issues with my ZL1. I have used both filters for years in my 2005 Silverado truck and the previous Camaros I have owned before the ZL1 with no problems. Knock on wood!

That’s what I have on my ZLE. Last oil change too. I’m not worried about it causing a problem.

You can try PF63E. Same bypass pressure as PF64.

It's a taller filter, meaning more filter media.

From what I’ve read & seen the Mobil 1 is the same as the UPF64R.

Had seen this mentioned elsewhere. I like the idea of a larger filter. Wasn’t sure about clearance.

Thanks for the pic.

I would definitely use a GM oil filter on your new ZL1 gtfoxy. That way your warranty coverage will be good to go.
