How to Select the Right Flowmaster Muffler - Muffler Series Differences Explained

“Which Flowmaster muffler is right for my car?"

Because Flowmaster offers over a dozen different series of street mufflers, the answer to this question will vary depending on the make, model and performance needs of your vehicle, your personal sound preferences, budget, etc. Summit Racing Equipment spoke with Flowmaster's VP of Sales, Alex Ortega, to help narrow down your choices and give you a better idea of what to expect from each series of Flowmaster muffler. Back when I had a Crown Vic I put a 40 series muffler and it sounded great. My only worry with this camaro is that if I get a 40 series setup again it will be too loud. What would you recommend that is louder than stock but too loud and doesn't have too much drone?

My car is completely stock right now. 1SS 2010.

If its stock, muffler delete sounds great. The tone is perfect with the factory cats, and zero drone.

Depends if its an L99 or Ls3. I have a L99 with muffler deletes, sounds good at start ups but then blah. I know I have the AFM and huge resonator which holds the sound back. The LS3 sounds really good with muffler delete. I am trying to find something without tuning the afm out to avoid warranty that sounds bad ass. With Factory cats, etc. And maybe I can't.

Your factory resonator auctually gives the car a deeper tone.

If you’re looking for the Flowmaster sound without having too high a volume, check out the Force II Axle-Back for 10-13 Camaro SS 6.2L (#817506). The Force II Axle-back (#817506) replaces the stock mufflers but leaves the factory resonators in place. It features a pair of specifically designed mufflers just for the Camaro’s 6.2L engine to produce a classic, mild tone both inside and outside of the vehicle.

This system is made of 409S stainless steel and covered by Flowmaster's lifetime limited warranty.

If you have any other questions or would like to speak with one of our techs, give us a call at 707-544-4761.

From my experience with my Mustang 3v, the 60 series Delta Flow gave me the same classic "Mustang" sound on the outside with nearly no drone, and this was with both o/r x and he pipes. I would imagine that the 6.2L would sound equally as good with similar mufflers.

I have L/T's w/ cats & customer cam by RPM. I was running muffler delete prior & after cam install. The sound was awesome at idle... At higher RPM's it was a little too much. I had Flow Master 44 put on, now I think it's a bit quiet, where others think it's sensational. I had to put mufflers on to make the civilian population content. I would sharp clips; but, unable at the moment. If your running stock cat back... I like the muffler delete but too each is their own. Flow masters are nice, however, if you went with these I would choose single-in-single out.

Why single out?
