Dual mode exhaust
On the test cars they have the 4 tip exhaust maybe to allow a dual mode exhaust like on vettes? I acutally think it would be a nice feature to have especially if it was a 3" system, gt500s went to 2.8" this year I beleve. Sorry if this is old repeated speculation.

I hope so. It'll make it that much harder to want to change them if they flow as well as the current mufflers and especially if we can just remove a fuse to keep them open all the time. I'd still consider a full 3-inch CB, just because that's about the most I can do with the exhaust (where I live), however, if it's as nice a ZR1/Z06 exhausts, I might just leave it. I hope you're right though

Buuuuttt....if it is dual mode exhaust...it would freaking awesome. There's something called "mild to wild" for the Corvette. It basically puts the dual mode system controls in the palm of your hand. You can switch it on or off at will. And a Corvette with wide open butterflies sounds wicked!!! |

I've also was hoping Chevy would make a Dual Mode exhaust available (standard or as an option) on the Z28 when the rumors first started of a supercharged Camaro. Hell, I was hoping they'd make it an option on the SS.
I think that the pictures that have been "leaked" or taken of the mules indicate that the Z28 WILL have the Dual Mode exhaust. I noticed that in most all pictures of the rear of the cars, the outboard tips appear to be lighter than the inboard tips. Hopefully someone will get close enough to a mule (or have a good camera) to get a clear shot of the mufflers.

I think it would be a very impressive option to have dual mode exhaust.

Exhaust goes through the muffler's baffles normally until you go full throttle at which point a butterfly valve opens and the exhaust goes straight through the muffler for unrestricted flow AND noise .

Very trick and quite cool when the valve actuates. I love driving the old man's Z just to hear that change in timbre of the exhaust.

I was thinking to do this to the car now with the OEM muflers but need to find a butterfly valve to use, Got some parts coming will let you know after.

I'll say it now...I won't be surprised at all if this is standard on the Z28.
