Clutch Fluid vs Brake Fluid
If you separate the clutch and brake fluid reservoirs is there really any benefit to running higher temp clutch fluid such as Motul 600? Is the clutch fluid really going to see high enough temps even during a HPDE track event to require higher temp fluid?
I'm hoping maybe some of you more experienced track drivers can help chime in here and provide your thoughts. Thanks. Nick S.

I think my clutch feels better with motul. Not sure on the rest. I could be wrong but I don't think the clutch fluid would get as hot as the brakes.

That i dont know but it wont be long til someone does.I do know that you definitely want to separate the two.I change my clutch fluid every tank,as it gets dirty so fast, couldn't imagine having that fluid in my brake lines.

When you change your clutch fluid do you bleed out the entire system with new or do you just remove all the old from the reservoir and replace it with new and then just pump the clutch several times to distribute the new fluid?

I empty, refill, pump 30 times, 5 or 6 times, the fluid will start to look not so golden brown.

I change my clutch fluid the same way, just not as frequently. My car mostly just goes to work and back with a little spirited driving mixed in. When I see the fluid anything other than clear, I do what CS92 does above. Since I seperated the clutch from the brake, the brake fluid has remained crystal clear.
Tara I use DOT4, of course...

So how do you empty the reservoir? Syringe?

Yes, use a syringe to drain it the best you can. Then disconnect everything and install the new reservoir and clutch reservoir and bleed the brakes and the clutch.

So if I am just trying to flush stock reservoir, just suck out with syringe until very low then refill, pump clutch and then repeat process several times?

Depends on how much you are trying to flush it. If you just want it kinda clean suck out the fluid but don't go to low and get air in. Put fresh fluid in and Pump the brakes and the clutch and repeat till its clean or cleaner. If you want it really clean you need to bleed the brakes and the clutch from the bleeders. Just remember you won't be able to bleed the abs system unless you own a tech II scan tool or take it to the dealer so they can do it.

I use a meat injector like this without the metal needle. Works insanely great with no mess.

I use the big syringe from a two-stroke oil mix kit from Wally-Mart.
