Replacing shocks/struts - V6 vs. V8?

My butt is telling me it's time to replace my shocks/struts. Since I'm also doing brakes I thought "Treat yo' self!".

I'm curious whether there is a major difference in the damping rates. I have a 2010 V6 with Eibach 1" drop springs. I had read somewhere that replacing my V6 struts with the V8 struts would improve ride quality since the lower ride height is more in line with what the SS has (strut stays within its damping range better). Also, something about the SS strut damping rate being tuned for stiffer springs.

Any stock in that? There is absolutely no difference in price, so I'm good either way.

2010 V6's rode higher (esp. in the back) than future 6's. 2012 and up struts for V8's had improved (FE4) damping rates.

Find some low mileage take-offs from a recent V8 for improved damping and control. They'll bolt right in with your Eibach springs!

I have the set of shocks and springs from my 2010 SS that were removed with 5K miles if interested.

Is there any difference in the mounting bolts for FE4? I thought they mounted slightly differently to the lower control arms?

I might be interested... for the right price. I was planning on buying new, but if you're just looking to get rid of them I'd be happy to make a deal. I see you're in Knoxville, I'm in Connecticut - zip code 06360. What kind of price can you get on shipping?

The only thing you'll have to watch out for is the front endlinks 13+. Your endlinks have 10mm studs where newer models have 12mm studs.

Is there any reason for that change?

It's a stronger link than the early models. GM now uses the same front endlinks in all camaro models from V6 to ZL1. not sure about the Z/28 yet, but I assume they are the same as well. GM just like to make things easy and carry one part that fits all trim levels when possible.

Best regards,

Tyler
