Last "Test and Tune" event this Saturday at Beech Bend Raceway

Will anyone else that lives around Bowlingreen, KY be able to make it for the last t&t Saturday? The DA is supposed to be the best we've seen this year.

I'll be there I guess. Maybe I'll finally claim the #1 spot on the bolt on fast list!

I believe we may have talked. I was in the white SS. This Saturday was the date I was referring to. Are you going to be there this Saturday?

What stall speed did you end up with on the converter?

Did you have to do much tuning to get it to work correctly? I.E. tq tables, lock up tables and what not.

It flashes to around 3500 right now at my power level. It actually wasn't that hard to get it to work as far as tuning goes. It drove pretty well with the tcc tables stock. Just seemed like the torque converter was really busy releasing between shifts and such. I have a the converter locking in 3rd around 5500 rpm right now and staying locked through the shifts. That's the only way I've ran it so far. Going to take my laptop to the track and try locking in 2nd and also try it with no wot tcc lock up to see what nets the best et and trap speed.

I am going to do the same thing this weekend if I have time. I have a guy that swears leaving the converter unlocked will be worth 2-3 tenths. I was going to try completely unlocked and locking it just past the 1/8th at 98mph or so for the last bit of 4th and all of 5th. I am after E.T. right now so I am not very concerned about MPH. 11.50's on stock tires or bust.

I think 3,500-3,800 is a perfect stall rpm for the power band of these cars. I am wondering if the stock re-stalled converter will give you the same type of tq multiplication of a dedicated aftermarket converter. The stocker must be plenty strong if they are locking it from first on and through the shifts. Especially considering this same trans and converter are in the C7Z's.

The only benefit I could see on a car at our power level going with a 100% new converter is if they made it a smaller diameter and also lighter. I'm confident this converter Chris re-stalled for me would handle anything I plan on throwing at it. These converters are multi disc from the factory and he upgraded the discs while he had it apart and added a more aggressive billet stator to achieve the 3500 stall speed.

I'm not sure what the difference is between our converters and the c7 converters but they are not the same. When we were talking about the exchange process he said he had some c7 cores in stock but no Camaro cores. It must be different due to the torque tube and rear mounted trans.

That's good info. Thanks. I was saying that they are internally the same. I am sure there are some external differences due to the platforms. I could be wrong on that also. I just didn't see GM making three different converters for the Camaro, C7, and C7Z.

I will have to give Chris a call and see whats up. I do love the stock converter though.
