My dealer is 400 miles from home, too. Road trip! Only question is, does my wife get to come with me?

yeah, but make her ride in the back with her head down, j/k. enjoy the ride dude. Iwanted to take a plane to canada and drive my car home from the plant, it's only 8 hours, would have done it in a heartbeat.

You used to be able to take delivery of ordered Corvettes at the National Corvette Museum. Is there something similar for Camaros?

Well if i would have been able to set it up in advance i would have done it, i didn't really check into it because i only have about a week until my car gets here but it would be cool. I would think they wouldn't let you pick it up at the palnt though.

We bought our Camaro from a dealer/friend in Virginia and we live in NY...

We took Amtrak to DC, rented a car "one way" to Virginia, and had the salesman pick us up at the rental car drop-off, about 30 minutes from the dealer the day after our car was delivered to dealer...

We drove "our baby" home, about 300+ miles, back to NY...

It was fun enjoying "rock star" status all the way home...

If you have an easy way to get to the dealer, like we did, I would def drive it...otherwise you might get "Camaro whiplash" from looking back at your car all the way home....LOL...

IMHO...............

I'm confused, at what point did the OP say 400 miles? He said 4 hours, at an average speed of 65 mph that would be 260 miles. Which isn't much, drive it.

Thanks for all of the responses.

It looks like the vast majority of responses are "Drive it." I do like the idea of getting 250 miles or so of break-in behind me and I love the idea of back roads. I am religious about break-in periods.

My wife is complaining about driving home by herself, but then she gets to look at the new car from all angles. It's a manual transmission, so she can't drive the Camaro.

In response to some other comments:

The trailer is enclosed, so no one would know what's in it, except for the MD Camaro Club license plates.

Thanks for the tip on axle straps on low cars. I like the idea of wrapping the axles on the ramp.

There are more great surprises about this car, but I'll save them for a future post after the weekend...

O1Pewter: Nice looking '69. Nice trailer too!
