Guys with real experience running high stall converters

I just installed my 3600 stall… Car has been previously tuned for fbo. Has anyone driving with a high stall without a retune or is it atleast safe to drive normal to a tuner? Or have it trailered to a tuner when I finally find one I’m happy with and has great experience tuning 6l80E’s.

You’re fine. There’s nothing magic about a high stall converter.

Well, when I swapped my 3200 out for a 4500, my tuner told me that I could drive the car around just fine, like a normal person would, as long as I didn't drive it hard, and at WOT until I got the tune adjusted for the 4500. I drove my Camaro around for about 3 days until I could get it down to him, his shop was 2.5 hours away from me in south Florida. The trans shifted and operated just fine all the way down. Never got on it until it was retuned. Hope this helps ya.

Question, did you also install a trans cooler? If not, you will need one to keep it cool.. And yeah, you will be alright with the stall until you get it tuned, the shift points and line pressures and lockup points will have to be adjusted accordingly for the change from what ever you had to the 3600... Just be careful.. Good luck..

Have a cooler just deciding as to stand alone or in series, I've always done stand alone in my 4th gens and they always ran 140deg. Also those cas had 4k stalls but they weigh 500pds less then my 5th gen
