This. They want used cars in good shape and they want you to extend your current loan with a new car from them.

Dealer gets 2 sales commissions + 2 profit margins + 2 finance commissions + 2 opportunities to sell the usual add ons all for just asking if you want to sell your car.

You get to lose 10K in depreciation, pay higher interest costs on the new larger balance + get to pay your share of the profit and commissions above.

THATS NORMAL PRACTICE

IVE BEEN SELLING CARS FOR FOUR YEARS. WHEN YOU TOOK YOU CAR THROUGH SERVICE THEY TOOK YOUR NAME, NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS. THAT INFORMATION GETS PASSED TO THE BDC AGENT (BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER). THEIR JOB IS TO CALL YOU AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO TRADE YOUR CAR IN ON A NEWER ONE.

Tell me a time when you don't haggle with a dealer? Or don't have the numbers yourself? Of course the dealer wants to make money! You just take your time and figure out if its a deal for you. If you freak out like most of you here, just stop buying cars, haha... for those who want a good deal, just do your research. The end.

Its one thing to solicit through the mail informing the customer you are interested in buying their car. Receiving phone soliciting for something I never inquired would piss me off.

Never make a car buying decision based on the amount of the monthly payments.

Of course sales is involved! The DO have to make a living. You just find out if it is good for you or not.
Once you factor in interest, they didn't give you a deal at all. But if you're happy, that's all that matters.

Well, I can't read the "fine print" because of photo quality but... it says a lot. This looks like almost exactly the same form letter I receive from Honda a couple of times a year. The idea is to get you into the dealership, let you test drive a new model, then sell it to you and make you think you got a great deal. You won't.

Exactly, but the kids don't figure that out until they're much older.
