Know body will know what will be collectible in 30 40 years. If Chevy only made 1000 of anything it will be collectible in the long run in most cases. There were very little GTs made so that makes them what people want, if they make more at this time, that will drive the price right down the gutter of the older GTs
Also until the Z28 is bought, nobody knows what they are paying for it until they sign the sales slip. It's the total at time of sale that counts. |

The 2014/15 Z/28 is the end of an era in automotive manufacturing. It is for this reason (and low production numbers) the Z/28 will, likewise, become a legend. |

The prime ingredient to the progress of limited production (not ultra-low) cars' appreciation is the state of the world economy. As the world economy goes, so goes the up or down-market timing of toy prices. But setting aside the timing, appreciation of this car is inevitable unless you believe the economy will never get back to where it once was.

There may be a 2016 Z28 that will drive the cost down.

In the relative short term horizon we will eventually see a hybrid Z28 that outperforms every Z/28 ever built. But this is only the short term.
For example, when you drive a 60's era muscle car (which is to say a 40 year old machine,) a prominent word that surfaces would be, "slop" as in slop in the fit, slop in the finish, slop in the steering, slop in the seats, etc. But we love them all the more for it. A collectible cars transcends performance alone. Such cars eventually get a free ride by their buyers on what can't do well, or at all. In a paradoxical way their value goes up based in part on what they are not, not what they are. They are memories of a time we will never see again. This Z/28 is just such a car. |

Maybe in the short term, but even then not necessarily. Look at the history of many cars. Check out auctions.

Sellin Chevy's since '06

I doubt anyone on this forum would admit to paying over MSRP, like others have said. Now here in Houston it's insane how many people have money and who tries to outbid who to have the first one on the block. '10 Camaro SS were 5K over and sold out. There's a line of people waiting to get their Z51 Stingray cars at 5k over MSRP. You can bet that the Z/28 will be north of 5k over MSRP down here in Houston, but the customers don't see it as a rip off. It is simply supply and demand. Too many people have $$ and want to be seen. Most of them aren't on this forum either. They know they can travel out of state and get one at MSRP, but they want the one in front of them now!

There are other issues in paying more than MSRP in that some do not want to bother looking around because they may use that time making more than the mark up. |
