when i was 17 i bought a 67 mustang ,289 4V,3 speed.i hot rodded the crap out of it,broke a few motor mounts and even a couple of sets of u joints.had to pull the drivers seat out when the welds in the seat frame broke.amazingly the clutch never gave trouble and that engine loved the abuse...

This could be another loaded thread, so I'll skip to the point. You will have to define your own reasoning for switching to a V8. Of course there are aspects of a v8 that are great, but in reality any car can be made to go fast. You will have to weigh how much each of the good points of a specific power plant will mean to you.
