Nav Upgraded or Not?

Just purchased a 2015 2SS with Nav. Noticed on this forum that there was a software update available.

How do I determine if the previous owner upgraded the Software?

Thanks

you should be able to go into the settings and see the version the maps are on and compare it with what is available today.

My Nav unit does not having a Settings option. It has a Config but no info on the version of Nav software.

Called GM and they recommended I go to my dealer.

Is this my only option?

All of the version info for the radio is in the Config under Software Version.

Update can be found here: https://gmnavdisc.navigation.com/en_US/GMNA/USD

You could also contact their support for verification (they will ask you the software version #'s noted above.

And the dealer will give you a website to go to to pay $99 for a thumb drive to update your NAV. Ask me how I know.

I went through a similar thing and understand there are 2 things at play here. The OnStar and the Nav/Maps.

After a lengthy dialog with On Star we got that taken care of. Had to get the new radios installed for that. One way to see if yours are up to date is to see if your Android "My Chevrolet" app can be connected to the car and the door lock/start functions work with the app. If yes you are good. If not you will need that hardware upgrade and if you handle On-star well you will get it for free. It is available for 2015 up cars for 5 years from date of mfg.

The second part is the Nav maps update. I'm still trying to find out how you know which version of maps is installed in the car. In my case since I had to do the On Star hardware I'm pretty sure that my Maps are the originals. Will be talking to On Star tomorrow and see what they can offer. Since they have to match a VIN to the Map they should be able to see if there ever was an update sold.

The contact info is in this link as is access to their "Chat" line.

I was driving to Echo Bay Marina at Lake Mead, NV last weekend in my Silverado. I was on a dirt access road when I took this picture. I think my Maps need to be updated.

Just finished the "Chat" with the Maps people. Here is what they said to do:

Penny[‎08‎:‎02‎ ‎AM] Hello Levon. To determine if you have the latest version, you would be able to pull up a specific address that is only on the latest map update that was released. The address is Shake Shack at 660 Woodward Ave Detroit, MI. Please use the following information to determine if you have it.
Penny[‎08‎:‎02‎ ‎AM]
STEP 1: Select Navigation then Destination.
STEP 2: Select “Points of Interest”
STEP 3: Options will display “Current Location” or “Distant Location” Select “Distant Location”
STEP 4: System will say “Where do you want to go?” Enter “Detroit, MI”
STEP 5: System will then ask “What do you want to do?” Select option at the bottom: “Restaurants”
STEP 6: Enter “Shake Shack”

Hope this helps. You can also ask to be added to the notifications of when they have Promotions on for the $99.00 purchase.
