More or less... still massaging the suspension a bit to get the 16" wheels to fit. Should be figured out by Sunday (I hope)...

Yep, belt is good... tried 3 different pulleys and all were the same. Ended up needing to put a .080" shim between the hub and the main crank pulley. Works great now.

16's were from John at CCW. If my car wasn't lowered, they would've fit with no issue. But I like the lowered look, so I had to notch the LCA's and my Pfadt trailing arm and will run a small (4mm) spacer. No biggee... got one side done, gonna do the other side tonight. Won't know til I launch the car and it squats if I've notched it deep enough or not... hopefully I'm good or it will be 1 pass and done on Sunday

One trick if nobody has suggested it, you can put tape, like painters tape on the suspension parts and see if there is any contact.

How much is your car lowered? I've been thinking of lowering mine at some point.

Yep, that's the plan for Sunday... actually going to try a couple light test hits around here first, but I think they'll be ok for that. It's going full out with decent traction that makes me think I may need to notch a little more...

Car is lowered on Pfadt drop springs... believe they're advertised at 1.25" drop. Car looks good... body pretty much sits right on top of my street tires (275 stock Pirelli's up front, 315 Nitto's rear).

Gonna be pretty conservative this first go around... haven't been down this track in a long time and will need to get used to the car all over again.

Car definitely has the power, we'll see what the air and the driver can do

PSJohn,

Local track is 75 miles away in Centerville AR. Bite is usually good but it was a little slick all Sat night and I spun bad in the bracket final. Only the second time in about 90 runs it's spun. I'm talking about using the steering wheel loose. Thats never good on a dragstrip!
Due to the 75 mile drive, if I go with DR, ill go with 555R. Just don't need anymore wheels laying around and hate to spend the money if I don't need to!
Are your 05R's on 9.5 wheels? How much air works best?

Gary

Hey Gary,

I'm running these 18" NT05R's at 20 psi cold. I'm still having some traction problems if I try to flash the converter, so I'm thinking I need to try another track to gain some perspective.

I've driven my 20" NT555R's to Norwalk and back including driving for about 40 minutes in heavy rain. Handled great.

Spill some beans on the power haha. What did you put down with the new setup. I feel you on that one man gotta learn it again. I'm struggling to get a solid time, might be because I'm going down the track on 22s

We ran my buddy's car at the MDRA race last night at GLD, in Old School vs New School which is basically an outlaw 1/8 mile class. LS power for the win, went three rounds and won with a final pass of 4.79@158 1.19! Will say that Jason from VP was prepping the track, makes all the difference. This is in a black 2002 TransAm with twin turbos and we raced at 3200 race weight.
