Please help! Jacking up car to change tires

Hi there,

Soon it will be time for me to remove my winter tires and put back on my summers....but I am not sure where to put the floorjack to lift my car :(

I have done a search, and I have seen all the pics where to put jackstands, or scissor jack, but I have not seen where you would place a floor jack to just change tires.

I looked under the car, and I found these 4 elevated pieces on all 4 corners of the car near each wheel. Is this where you put the floor jack? I have attached a pic

Thank you!

The problem with this pic is, is I just want to jack up the front left side...this looks like it jacks up the whole front? It's in the middle of the car as opposed to the sides

I made 2 sets of these jack support pads and use them when only jacking up one corner with a floor jack. If I want all 4 corners up I jack up where N719SG pointed out except the front I jack it up on the control arm joint (Circled them not sure what the official name of it is called )and use the jack support pads for jack stands.

If you jack up your car in the center of your front cradle, it will bend. Ask me how I know.

I use the jack support pads because of the side ground effects. If I didn't use them the jacks would damage the side ground effects'

Thank you Stewart. This pic is helpful - this is where I will jack since I am doing one wheel at a time, and not putting the car on jackstands

100% correct.

I did it dead center of the cradle, now mine is slightly dimpled in.

You are welcome Skyset, glad to help. To make the jack support pads I used 1" flat stock (1/8" thick) and welded 1/2 " steel U channel to it. Then got some 1/2" nylon flat trim from Lowes and slide it into the bottom. Was cheaper to make it then buying 4 pre made ones.

I jacked mine yesterday to install the skip shift and I put the floor jack under the center like in the picture but before I lifted it i thought it was a bit light. i moved over to the pink circled area instead. Love the skip shift eliminator.
