Would you like L99s with performance tunes & keep AFM

Through Research and Development, Tampa Tuning has come across a method where you can keep your performance tune and great shifts, but when your in 6th gear cruising on the highway and meet a threshold of say 70 MPH and RPMs, your AFM would kick in and vehicle becomes a 4 cylinder again.

No flicking a switch because your computer is doing all the work. You'd just have to have it pre programed into the tune and meet requirements in of Speed and RPMs area in your tune. You'd still have drone as normal with low RPMs, but improved fuel milage.

What's your thoughts,

I tuned mine this way actually from the get go, only left afm active in 6th, and it made a noticeable difference in mileage on the hwy AND its at a speed where you can't hear the shitty sound...lol

No reason not to, AFM does make a difference and when you can set it up for only 6th at certain loads, why not?

And there is a way to handle that drone, no matter what brand of exhaust you care to use.

Best of both worlds. Go for it!

Yea ah no i dont think its even nessesary, I never saw any dip in my overall mileage with the tune. I guess its good as an option if someone wants it but I would have no use for it again.

if you take long trips on the highway you can tell. AFM does almost nothing for city driving and the like. not sure how you drive.

A know guys that put their transmission in 5th gear so the rpms are above the threshold for the AFM to kick in.
When they're cruising in 6th gear at low rpms, they start hearing AFM noises.

So basically on long cruises you still be hearing AFM kicking in and out as your rpms go up and down.

Wouldn't that be the case?

It could be but there are a lot of parameters to edit so it doesn't kick on and off all the time. There is a lot you can do with the system.

Camaro Corvette GM Truck performance tuner in Tampa

In general, Tuners just turn it off to disable it all the time because its easy.

After a normal tune, your fuel milage should improve with the exception of your getting on the car more because its a fun car when dialed in.

My thinking is that I can hold the vehicle at a certain highway cruising MPH, enable your AFM, then redial in your LTFT for that specific HZ zone, it could improve MPH even more.

Phil, have you tried it much? They literally don't have the power to stay in 4 banger mode, they bog down really badly so I'm not sure if your idea is to keep them in DoD or what, but they almost have to switch back to 8 cyl on any kind of grade or in a head wind, etc. You can make it switch very smoothly though and keep it in longer than stock, etc....

Curious to see how it works for you though, if it works good, it could be big!
