this is from windingroad.com The only powertrain difference between the 1LE and standard SS is the gear set used in the Tremec six-speed manual, which now features a shorter, crisper throw. A 3.91 rear end sits in place of the 3.45 found on the SS, which gave our tester a bit more pep off the line. Unless you drive the two back to back, it’s not an especially big standout, though. The 1LE pulls, but it doesn’t seem to have much more authority than a normal SS.

1le is a high 12 car stock, quite a few 12.8s so far from what I have seen, a stock ss m6 is a high 12 car but takes a very good pass to get it done! No way your running 12s with 22s and no headers! He definitely has an advantage, one good launch and he's walking you. Put some long tubes and a dyno tune on your car and ditch the big wheels!

I don't think you need gears. You should have his car covered the way you sit. If you want to upgrade anything I would scrap the Diablo tune and go with a Jannetty tune and maybe some DRs, this will get you into the 12:40s range, add a set of LTs and you will be sitting at low 12s. Let us know how it turns out.

The 1LE has stickier tires, stronger axles, stiffer suspension (so less wheel hop), lighter wheels and shorter gearing. These all help greatly when dig racing so I wouldn't even bother bench racing, considering the cars have several but completely different upgrades and different transmissions. Best way to find out is to just do it. But if he ran a 13.5 you should get him since you have an auto and he clearly needs to get a little better at driving.

Slight disadvantage 1le has to shift into 4th to finish the 1/4.

However mention to your friend the launch control feature he has and its over. He should run high 12s all day long.

Is launch control safe now? I never really followed up on that whole thing. I've used it a few times but I definitely won't be using it with my mods... It just seems like the RPMs (4500) are higher than necessary for a good launch.

Should keep him right at the edge of traction, not sure about power levels above stock.

Hello to all, I'm fairly new with a 2LT RS 2013 camaro. Really looking to buy a 2014 2SS 1LE.

I need to know the jargon. What are 'DRs, and what are 'LTs'.

Thanks for your help.

Jim
