TSP Headers - Question before I install.

I've been sitting on a set of 1 7/8" TSP headers with off road connection pipes for nearly 5 months and I'm finally getting around to installing them before Camaro Fest comes around. I was chatting with a place to have the car tuned and they were concerned that the TSP headers would be prone to rust. I'm presuming from past experience. Instead he recommended Kooks or ARH. Has anyone on here seen any issues with surface rust on the TSP 304 stainless headers in the long term? Or any other concerns? A magnet doesn't stick to any part of them but the flange, so I'm assuming that's the only 'dirty' metal in them. Thoughts? I will switch to Kooks if there is a good viable reason but otherwise I will just run these since they are already sitting in the shed.

Thanks.

Mine have been on for 5 years. They are not shiny like coated headers but not rusty. Just have them coated if you care what others think when you pop the hood. Mine perform great and I have 43000 miles and that was 3 or 4 Pittsburgh winters.

It's no show car. I drive it. If all they do is turn faded blue and gold like all stainless headers do then I'm totally cool with that.

Apparently they dont know headers....or trying to sell you more expensive ones. The TSP will outlast your car.

Cool. Thanks guys. If I get motivated enough I may start on them as soon as tonight so I can finish them for tomorrow afternoon and drive it to work Saturday.

I'd pay to have them coated. (If I did it all over again I'd have mine coated.) Yes they will last just fine, but it's not going to take long for them to look like crap. If you don't care about that then you have nothing to worry about.

I was kinda thinking the same thing! I can hardly wait long enough for my stuff to be delivered before I start messing with it like a kid at Christmas. He's probably like some sort of karate master!

Yea a lot of people seem to say they've had their headers or exhaust sitting in garage for a few months. So why did u wait so long?
