Trans cooler install made easy

I have a build thread going in the V8 engine forum if anyone wants to follow along. Figured I would post this here though to help out those who are searching for answers
Tru cool 40k cooler installed. I decided to bypass the rad and run staright to the cooler. For anyone who doesnt know, the pass side tranny line is the feed line and the driver side is obviously the return.

Mounting was easy, just bent the top brackets to fit that came with the unit. The bottom, I just installed long grade 8 bolts with spacers on the back side and mounted it straight to the crash bar

Plumbing was next. I used 6an line and fittings from summit racing. I'll include the part #s to make it easy to replicate. I tapped right into the factory lines. JJust use a tubing cutter and cut on the straight section of the aluminum tubes and install 3/8 compression to 6an.

The fittings were pretty basic. I used 3' of 6an line on each side, but could have shortened both by probably 6". The fitting that was tricky and took me a couple tries to get right, was the fitting that goes into the tru cool cooler. It ended up being a 3/8 inverted flare with 5/8 thread to 6 an. Pic is of all the part #s. It took 2 of each

and the part numbers

And if its hard to read the pic the summit part numbers are as follows

90 degree 6an - SUM-220687B

straight 6an hose end - SUM-220690B

3/8 compression to 6an adapter - SUM-2200077B

and the tru-cool fittings which are 3/8 inverted flare with 5/8 thread to 6an - SUM-220667B

Not true.. my 1le has cooler lines that go from trans to bottom of radiator that acts as a little cooler. It’s a six speed manual 6060.

An aftermarket cooler like the OP did definitely would be a nice upgrade for anyone doing autoX or road course events. I mostly drag my car and some occasions cruising around town and don’t see any heat issues with my transmission temperatures. Oil though that’s another discussion lol. I upgraded to a aftermarket oil cooler to fix that though.

My bad, I never saw a manual trans with cooling lines. I have had many manuals,
none of them had any cooling. Good to know...
